A new car show, "SAABs' in the Park" will be presented by the Central Penn SAAB Club, in conjunction with the Lancaster Sertoma Club and the Vagabonds Rod and Custom Club on August 14, 2010.

The 2nd annual Mid-Summers' Night Dream car show is a cooperative event by the Sertoma Club and the Vagabonds. The show will be held at Longs' Park, just off PA Route 30, on the north edge of Lancaster city. The show is for Saturday only. Gates open to the public at 9am and the show runs until 3-pm that afternoon. Last year the attendance for the inaugural show was 651 cars. Cars from Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey and New York were on exhibit. The show benefits the Long's Park Foundation, which manages and maintains this beautiful park for the benefit of the local community.

Central Penn SAAB Club will be participating and putting on our own show within the show - "SAABs in the Park". So come and join us for this fun day of cars in general, SAABs in particular, some old familiar friends and make some new friends, picnic lunch and a relaxing time. Bring a friend, your spouse, a girlfriend or significant other and have a picnic in the park, in the shade of the 200-year old Oak trees that are throughout the park. CPSC will be offering some light fare picnic lunch for our registered attendees. Please plan to bring along a covered dish to share with other SAAB enthusiasts. Be sure to bring your camera and the sun screen.

Show charges as follows: Pre-Registered - $25.00 / We can only accept pre-registrations that are postmarked no later than July 24, 2010. If you do not pre-register and decide to attend the show, the show staff will park you on the general show field and most likely not with your fellow SAAB enthusiasts. Also, CPSC will not be prepared to offer you food and beverages, as you were not included in our food and beverage lists.

Long's Park Foundation does not allow alcoholic beverages within the confines of the Park. Please do not bring pets to the show.

The CPSC Constant Contact e-newsletter will be going out shortly to all Carlisle participants. New to the forum or to SAABs' - just send me your e-mail address and I can add you to the distribution list for all the updates.

Please respond to my email address if you plan to come or have questions. The registration form in PDF format will be placed on the CPSC web-site in a few days. Site address is http://www.centralpennsaab.com/

Looking forward to seeing all of you - come and join us for a fun and relaxing day . . .

Sorry guys, I have been away for a few days. Was not able to check the forum at that point.

If you want to send in your registration form, do it by 08/04/2010. Send me an email so I know it is coming. Since you are after the deadline date, please add a whole $5.00 to the costs. Registration form is on the CPSC web site - www.centralpennsaab.com/

Then you will be able to park your car with the rest of us SAABaholics. Club is going to provide summer picnic lunch and beverages. Please bring and let me know what you are bringing, a hot or cold picnic covered dish. This is all on the Registration form - so just fill it in and get it in the snail mail system.

SAABs in the Park car show was a great success for CPSC. We would love to have you join us next year - a great time was had by this years' participants.

Below are a couple of photos from SAAB's in the Park car show on Saturday, August 14, 2010. Show field had a really great selection of vehicles to see. SAAB cars were represented by members of the Central Penn SAAB Club, had eight cars, including a '68 96 that has been converted to full electric power. It drew a real crowd, once people realized it was an electric car - couldn't have happened to a nicer 96 !

Looking towards the CPSC - SAABs in the Park show field area.

Hood up on the All ELECTRIC SAAB - 1968 96 - never heard it leave !

A last minute arrival - 900 Turbo, sorry I don't have the MY data.

Theresa Gambers' 1972 Sonett III - in the same family, father to daughter for more than 25-years.

Robin Kuhns' 1991 9000 T16S - that white could not have been any brighter in the afternoon sun !

CPSC member John Webbers' 1978 99 - Sunset Orange and a real beauty.

Engine bay, minus the engine ! Filled with electrolytic solutions for go power ! 1968 SAAB 96 owned and converted by Branden Hertzler.

A motorized tricycle by Harley - it was a real eye catcher !

Do you remember ? Well I sure do remember the muscle from the 1960's and 1970's - not my style, but still impressive.

A preview of what was to follow lunch for the hungry CPSC Pit Crew . . .

Gaylene Webber making her choices for lunch - all 6-feet of it !!!

CPSC pit crew member Yuh Tam beginning to enjoy her lunch. In the tradition of the club, there was plenty of a really good lunch for all.

And to close out this review, one more shot of the SAAB Compound at Long's Park, August 15, 2010 - SAABs in the Park car show, part of the Lancaster Sertoma / Vagabonds Mid-Summer's Nights Dream Car and Motorcycle show.

Really sorry I had to pass at the last minute but certainly plan to have my SAAB in the Park next year. Looks like it was a great day.
Looks like a nice little gathering! Wish I didn't have plans already that day - but we still had a good time at my place in the evening. I'll try to attend next years if the date doesn't conflict.
I love that 99! Anybody know what's under the hood?

Saab T16 - fire wall moved back to fit. It's John Webber's masterpiece. Car is very nice.
If you are an enthusiast of cars in general, this was a great show. Central PA has a history and very stong auto culture. As evidenced by, Carlisle Expo shows from April thru Octover, the Antique Auto Club up in Hershey with their numerous shows and the huge hot rod shows over in York at the Fairgrounds. All of these locations less than a hours drive from each other.

The cars this weekend showed great beauty and skill in their restorations. The opportunity to present and show the SAAB brand along side the other great marques of the industry, helps to increase our brand awareness and for people to see the quality we have all come to enjoy.

The variety was wonderful and for the SAABers that came, it was fun and relaxing. Just what the Doctor ordered ! A chance to share our common interests and to be with friends and share the day. Sure hope those that could not make it this year will be able to join us in 2011.

That red turbo looks like spgproject's cherry Cherry. Mrrrowww. Looks like a neat show. Hopefully we'll have the house squared away by next year because that's pretty damn close.
The car is owned by a young fellow who works on Jaguars - first name is Ethan, but don't have is last name here with me. Really nice young fella - only had a bit of time to talk with him as he was out looking at the cars on the show field. Came back to eat and then off once again - sounds like my kids, only came home to eat and then out the door !
Yep. Ethan=spgproject. And, yes, he works on Jags. Doesn't fix them, as one of his coworkers likes to say, but works on them.
Nice, maybe next year, was making a square in Reading that day.
