Yes, just what I was thinking as I hit the reply button.

Would it be bad if I said I thought the gun people puppets of the right, used for their votes?
Like I've said before, you have to pick your important issues.
Maybe Hirsh and I have the same important issue.
I'm certainly not far right as I'm pro choice and pro same sex marriage.

Take some time and do some unbiased reading. You will find out some pretty scary info on the medias favorite candidate.
Hint.....hold on to your wallet.

1. There's a difference in displaying the flag as it should be, and trying to make people think you're patriotic by having red white and blue on some logo that's a half-assed attemept at a flag.
2. Gun control is a major issue. I'm constantly reminded of Germany Pre-WWII. Hitler started with mandatory gun registration, followed by registration of all jews. (Not saying jew registration is imminent) Following this registration, Hitler was able to find EVERY gun in his country and relieve the citizens of their weapons in a fairly civilized manner so as to remove a possible threat to his regime from the inside. Removing the tools from those that opposed him was brilliant and also detrimental at the same time. It's been said that those who do not study history are doomed to repeat it. I fear that there are those who are either ignorant to this story or merely turn a blind eye towards it.

It's a serious issue whether you own a gun or not, or if you want a gun or not. If you would rather have a completely socialized society where all you do is work for 1/3 of your pay to keep, censored programming controlled by "your" government and healthcare that takes over 9 months for a kidney transplant, I feel sorry for you. Socialism doesn't work, and that's what the majority of the media portrays the country to want. I can only hope that it isn't true. Socialized medicine, housing, anything, doesn't work. You know why it doesn't work? It's because Man is inherently evil. You cannot think that man is basically good. That theory has been disproved time and time again.

I'd love to go back to the Democratic republic that this country started with, but truth is we've outgrown that. Times have changed and I believe we've changed rather well with them. Nobody is ever going to be near perfect, but some are more corrupt than others. I can't say I know who's worse, as I surely am in no position to throw stones myself.

I'd appreciate name calling and finger pointing be kept to a minimum and as much as possible a civil tone in this particular thread. There are plenty of other threads to talk smack in, and please create one if you want to diss people, but if you have something thought out and not impulsively written, please do enlighten me here. I'd personally like informed opinions and not a digital "Who's the bigger head" contest. I'm trying to learn from the collective knowledge of my friends here. I'm young, like many of you, but I'm eager to learn, politics and many other things. I appreciate those who have already started and I hope it continues in a civil manner.

Thank you

I'm guessing you're trying to (incorrectly) refer to tax hikes. Obama is proposing ~$1,000 cuts for the working middle class, as well as increasing wages.

I doubt anyone here makes $600k+ a year.

Here is a thought

By allowing the rich to have more tax breaks they will make more on intrest/investments and pay more taxes next year. The top 1% of American pay more in taxes than 90% of America.

just saying

According to that graph, I lose less with McCain than Obama.
I'm guessing either way, you'd pay less than you do now, making your argument moot. IMO, paying these taxes (that are crucial to running this country) is a more important form of patriotic support than wearing some cheesy lapel flag pin.

Taxes? Crucial to running the country?
Spoken like a true liberal.
Case closed.

Tax rich give to poor.

wat the hell is this robin hood

i belive tax breaks should be across everyone. so your punishing people who work hard/get luckly and become rich. Is that fair????

The government makes plenty of money from every thing else we're taxed on, I'm entitled to more of my money than they are.

Socialism doesn't work, especially not in this country. One only has to look at Canada and the miserable state that their healthcare system is in and it's not much better in some European countries. My wife had a 7 month wait for an MRI while we lived in Denmark. Of course if you have the money(we do)you can get anything done at a private hospital.

Anyone here had Economics and realize the effect of a minimum wage? I wish it would be dissolved.
Have you ever tried keeping a roof over your family's head and food on the table with $15k a year? I wasn't even referencing minimum wage, but if cost on all commodities go up while wages remain the same, more and more Americans are being classified as impoverished every day.

no i haven't. I'm not saying it's easy, and I don't think it's honestly possible to do away with the minimum wage now. But min. wage has an effect on prices, inflation. Costs of goods can only go up so far. I'm not saying all this is short term solutions, or even possible to be remedied in the short term.
One of the other problems I see is the need for instant gratification. It's dangerous, and all I ask is people think just a little more. Myself included.
