I drive both a motorcycle and a Saab. This makes me sad in all kinds of ways.
If that guy was thrown off of a heavy motorcycle like the Goldwing he was on, that Saab must be smashed to bits.
The Goldwing is a BIG bike. How do the State Troopers know that it was a Saab if there were no witnesses?

I agree with Christian, the car must be in bad shape after hitting such a big bike.

Sucks the guy died, and it was a hit and run. All cowards those who flee the scene. Need to man up(take no offense guys, just using the expression) and own up to what they did.

Karma will get them in the end. What goes around, comes around.
Thats crazy. Ive had friends who have died from hit and run drivers.

Its always better to stop because consequences will always be less if you stay.
There can also be a way to prove it is not your fault by staying. and when you leave all fault and blame is put on you.

I hope they find this guy.

Heavy front end damage, saab emblem in just about every front grill on all saabs
I think the car would actually be pretty hard to dispose of, so I'm sure it will turn up and lead to the driver soon.

This kinda stuff is sad to hear :(

x2 :(
You know if they would psot pics or let a Saabophile look at what was at the scene I am sure they could narrow down the model/year...
this angers me in so many ways, i have been rear ended on a bike before, and to hear somebody did this is beyond bad.

everybody keep your eyes open in the delaware area, this is not right
I saw a "soccermom" minivan (no offense to anybody, just the obvious stereotype) cut off a motorcycle Saturday. Nearly hit the guy and kept on going. Van turned left, motorcycle pulled a U-turn clearly to go back and give the drive a piece of his mind. He was pissed, and rightfully so.

I don't ride a motorcycle, but am always keenely aware of them as this area has a lot of riders (I'm on the way to Skyline Drive in Va...). All it takes is texting, a blind spot, or simple stupidity and you've just smeared somebody on the road.

Be aware of your surroundings! Military calls it "situational awareness". Use it!

Same. It's just bad...
My only guess is the grill was left behind.

Grille, bumper, hood emblem, fog lamps, etc... Lots of things on the front end are stamped with SAAB.
It's Monday afternoon and there's been no "official" updates on this terrible crash. That stretch of highway is particularly dangerous, especially late at night.

While I don't have any inside info, my personal guess is that the striking vehicle was stolen and ditched after the crash. I had also thought it might have been a minor driving parents' car who panicked, but a responsible SAAB owner would have come forth by now.

I lost a very close friend two summers ago when a car pulled into his path while he was riding his M/C with helmet, "steel" jacket and taking all precautions. As it happens, the vehicle involved in that mid-day crash was a Volvo.

BTW, here's the DE paper's online story:

UPDATE: DE State Police locate SAAB from fatal H&R

State police announced today that they have located the silver 2001 SAAB 95 involved in a fatal hit-and-run crash last weekend. The car struck a motorcycle on US Rt. 13 in New Castle, killing the operator. No arrest has been made nor has the car's owner been identified.

Abundance of Torx fasteners left at the scene.
They found a 9-5 that isn't sludged up? I'm calling B.S. the police planted this car to close the case.
