First, the good part
Once upon a time in Mexico..
On the way to the track a good 40 miles away with a large group, we hit this huge stretch of highway that is completely deserted for miles. It's the route to California, if that explains it. A few others ahead of me decide to get on it and I'm somewhat towards the back but behind them so I do, too. I'm still in 5th, starting from 100mph only because it was a nice drive and I was comfortable and too lazy to use my clutch foot. The silver 'full bolt-on' Evo 9 50 feet up gets left like he's standing still so I assume he was just on cruise control. I end my run at 150 because our exit is coming up. We stop 10 minutes later at a gas station and the Evo points out to me that he was on it the entire time
.
Several hours later...
This guy was at the track with us for the event. I was told by a few others that he's an outstanding driver and he usually wins all the normal events that are held here. Didn't get a chance to watch him.
We both left the track at the same time and once we finally made it to the highway and everything cleared up (way out in the middle of nowhere, nothing for miles), we started playing. At first I just chased him a little bit in 5th but then he got next to me. From about 90 and in 4th for me, I let him have the hit and then took off. I caught back up after a couple of seconds and he fell back towards the rear of my car, shifted into 5th at 120 and by the time 145~ hit he was WELL behind.
First off, I have NEVER taken my car to these speeds before in any state, so this is not something I do on a daily basis. Please believe me when I say I'm a careful driver and 98% of the time obey all traffic laws. These times were just that other 2% that I've saved up for when that empty stretch presents itself with the right cars alongside.
The rest...
Another car meet today. We went back out to the motorsports park again to take part in a charity event. Donate 5 cans of food, 3 laps around their 4.5 mile trap behind their pace car. Long story short, I know my car isn't built for this kind of shit so I spent the whole 3 laps with camera in one hand recording the whole drive. Yeah I suck.
Pictures in a minute.
