so, wasnt sure where to post this, but thought i needed to share some info i just discovered. now these threads are in swedish, but theres enough pictures to get the basic idea.

http://www.lowbudgetrides.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=13

thats how to bolt up a BMW trans, i belive they are using the getrag 260, came in some e30's and 5 and 7 series around the same time, seems like this is the most durable option, the BMW guys seem to think theyre basicaly indestructable. page 4 has the adapter plate drawings .

heres another fun one

http://www.lowbudgetrides.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=21

thats an opel omega trans, unfortunately we didnt get those here so thats not really helpful, except that the Caddy Catera is the same car...but they didnt come with manual trannys. BUT...and heres where the craziness comes in, the vauxhall 16v 4cyl engines apparently have the same bolt pattern, and it seems that they like to bolt those into RWD escorts in the UK, they make a whole new bellhousing actually http://www.yukspeed.com/parts.htm scroll down to vauxhall RWD conversion parts. now this is nice cause the trans that they are bolting to is the borg-warner T-5, same one thats in a wide array of american cars, from wikipedia:

now that one isnt nearly as strong as the getrag from what i can see, but theyre all over the damn place, and should be able to handle around 300ft/lb.

so who's going to be the first one to build a b234 powered S10? or maybe a b234 BMW e30?

personally, i think i may just build one of these:

yeah and he was nice enough to post a picture of the adapter plate and not give any specs  having some good technical drawings of the piece is a huge step in the right direction, now if somebody on here could translate a bit more of the specifics of the swap, that would be awesome.

hmmm, i would love a beater S10 even with stock b234 power.... well, preferably stage 3....

now im gonna have to buy one of those bell housings, and see if i can turn one of the sonnets into a drift car.... 200 hp in a 1800 lb car just sounds like fun....

yeah or that, do whatever the hell you want! you know you want a beater s10 with a 400hp b234 in it though

I wouldn't bother. There are easy kits available for S-10's to have all kinds of smallblock swaps.

I would think the C900 would be the best application to make RWD due to its engine lay out.

Wait wait wait... if you can use the getrag 260... that means you can swap a b234 into a 325ix which is AWD. My buddy has a 91 325ix that we have been slowly doing suspension mods on but a 2dr AWD b234 in a 2900lb car sounds really, really tempting.

I wish I could read all this, Im on my third Merkur xr4ti, its in awesome shape and runs like a champ but i hate the ford 2.3 engine, its got plenty of power but its all torque, no top end, and its rattly and buzzy, id love to fit a 2.3t in there, oh and a t5 is a bolt in to a merkur.
