I am having some major fuel and ignition problems. I am unable to figure out what the problem is. here is what i know. I have a cel that flashes 6 times (means O2 sensor). i do not know why this would be i replace it with a spliced in one about a year ago. and have even checked the splice to make sure it was good, it is. i have replaced the di in attempt to get it running smoother i got nothing. and it is running way rich all the time. not only that it has some major stumbe when i maintain speed and boost is border line green/yellow. help me please

thanks,

I'm sure you've probably checked all of the obvious things...but here's some food for thought:

check your wastegate actuator, to see if its stuck open. remember don't adjust anything on the arm because it will throw off your base adjustments.
hopefully the barrel nut didn't loosen up, but see if you can wiggle it back and forth..or close and open.

check your ic for puncture holes.

check vacuum lines, especially the ones running to the turbo... or near the throttle body.

check the boost controller..., I actually replaced my boost controller after very similar problems you've described..

Hopefully this will help.., but as a another measure.., there's always the SAAB specialist.

good luck..

regards

i replaced the lines about a year ago. didn't know to check the waste gate, thank you. another thought is that it could be the map sensor? i have done techron, plugs and even a di.

The O2 sensor finds it's ground through the exhaust pipe. You could have a high resistance here, and may need a good digital multimeter to chase it down.

Another thought, maybe the O2 sensor really is trashed. I replaced my OEM sensor after just a year. The agent I replaced it at gave me a good discount when I complained, as he had done the previous replacement.

The above should take care of your CEL.

If you're really running rich, the MAP sensor is a definite possibility. After I changed mine, it ran really great.
(The rich mixture was picked up by the TechII when I complained about stumbling, but this was mainly at idle, and a major hassle in bumper-to-bumper traffic.) The agent also pointed to the IAT sensor and the thermostat as other possiblities.

DC_SAAB has good advice on your low boost problem. You may also consider the solenoid valve, if that goes you would not get full boost. Try disconnecting the line from the solenoid valve to the WG actuator and go for a run (carefully :!: :!: )
If you get wild, uncontrollable boost, your solenoid valve is toast.

From the looks of it you may have more than one problem. :(

every once in a while i will get two flashes from my cel. not often though. that is supposed to be map sensor. so it very well could be map sensor. that is a relief. as for the boost. yesterday i unplugged the battery in order to reset the computer. and that could be why i got the boost issue, because now it seems as though i am getting boost like i should. by the way i have my mbc tapped at the solenoid. i have a slight oil leak somewhere and think it could just be the oring at the oil pump. would that cause comression issues and therefore smooth idle, etc.

thanks again.
