replacment exhausts for 16V n/a

Ok no point giving big saga. I want to replace exhaust system in my 89 900i due to some rust problems that showed up post-repairs from the rear-end hit in December last year, and the one I think seems most suitable is this one from Swedish Dynamics.

It seems that Ferrita no longer makes stainless exhausts for classic 900's so that source is out.

Who's used the SD exhaust systems and what are your thoughts on them?

Do you know anybody who does custom work?

No, unfortunately.

One of the people who responded to the question when I posted it in the SCCA forums said they had a similar issue and opted for a stock system for a turbo 16V 900 rather than go for an aftermarket or custom exhaust and the stock system gives, apparently, better performance.

I haven't fully grasped why people say that an exhaust for a turbo engine can't work with a non-turbo, or vice-versa, so I'm open to some clarification here.

If a turbo 16V c900 system is the better way to go then I can get an Australian supplier to sort me out for one. I know at least one Saab salvage outlet (in Sydney) that probably has everything already.

I am still planning on converting the engine to a turbo config so a turbo exhaust system in that context could be the best way to go anyway, even if I did opt for a stock setup.

Turbo exhaust works well on a c900i. Only issue could be the flange that bolts up to the cat or something, but overall it would not be a tough issue to sort out.

Ok I've decided on a Jetex aka Maptun system for a 16V turbo (sourced from an outlet in the UK) which will cost around 200 GBP plus about half that for shipping but it's way cheaper than the custom options I have explored so far. Best to go with a system properly engineering for a 16V classic 900 and being a decent compromise between the ultra-ruggedness of a Ferrita system (which is no longer available) and a stock system (which would be less costly), I think it's a good path to follow.
