The recent spam (8 threads) were posted at 4:31-4:34am this morning. Spam is an ongoing issue that every forum deals with. Another forum I belong to is being constantly hacked and turned into an entirely different site!

Also, simmer down all of you. I'll turn this car right around.

A couple of suggestions, if there was a report spam function associated with posts, we all could help make the admins job easier by pointing it out. The spam is getting more specialized, they are even submitting similar things for published papers and you actually have to read it in detail to see what is going on so scripts, etc won't work.

Another site I frequent has a General Discussion section, a Pit section and technical sections. General Discussion (GD) is for all sorts of posts not necessarily related to technical or car issues. Think of the Pit as Thunderdome, you call someone out and take your argument(s) into the pit and go at it and its kept out of the other sections.

The upside is that the technical forums are just that, posts that aren't strictly related to the topic, attacks, off topic posts etc. are deleted and continued abuse gets a day ban and goes up from there.

Bottom line, there should be a section for off topic discussion and keep the technical sections, that, helpful tips and reference so that we can continue to fix our cars or learn something.
