I have just replaced my driver side differential bushing because there was a lot of play at the tripod bearing and the transmission was leaking oil.

Is it normal for the differential to move up and/or down a little bit? If i put my fingers inside of the diff. I can move it around a bit.....

Just seeing if my work was for not and I really just needed a new tranny :-(

thanks in advance

so maybe time for a new transmission? this one has 195k on it. the up and down movement of the diff. is what caused my axle to contact my subframe i think....there is an indentation in the subframe from where it got worn away from the CV rotating around it.

There is clearance in the subframe. Don't think it was hitting. You would know. ;)

Yeah might be time. Could proabbly hack the preload setting in the car and get it sorted. But there is a reason it is loose. Thats what I would worry about if it is truly loose.
