I'm working on building a 3" mandrel bend downpipe. So far I have a short 45 degree piece with a 90 degree bend on that. I can't quite figure out how to make then bend down by the transmission, probably another 45 degree bend for that. I need some inspiration/ideas so post your mandrel bend downpipes. Thanks.

Thanks for the replies

Did you guys use the standard trans support bracket? I was thinking about just building the downpipe and then making a new bracket rather than trying to make the pipe work with the standard one.

Old stainless C900 3" downpipe with wide-mouth mounting flange for a TE-05. I don't have any good ones of it free standing, or passing around the inner fender and inner tripod though, sorry. You just have to play with the routing, cut some bits of angle and try to piece them together so that they'll fit.

Remember that if you tack anything together in the car, disconnect the battery, and the ECU before you start. Disconnecting the alternator wouldn't be a bad idea too.

Now has TD-04 15G from the Aero, headers updated to T25 turbine inlet, turbine outlet flange is the 9000 3 bolt.

Stainless 9000 bullhorn headers, Hahn Racecraft SS16G TD-05 10cm^2, and 3" stainless downpipe with 3-bolt turbine inlet (not the best transition, I know. The one we made to fit the stock TD-04 was much better, but wouldn't clear the water pump without shifting the whole thing to the right and messing with the cold side inlet tube and the compressor inlet tube).

spgbee- i was of the same mindset with not using a support bracket.....i bottomed out one day in a construction zone on a manhole cover that was sticking up really far and it snapped my downpipe right off behind the flange. it was repairable, but a terrible inconvenience. i'm confident that if i had a support bracket, it probably wouldn't have broke like that.

Found a few more where the downpipe comes around the inner tripod to meet the exhaust, it's not as tricky as it looks. This is 3" tubing, and a little bending on the stock support bracket that bolts to the passenger side driver flange fits fine, no rattles either. And doesn't put much load into the turbo, important for the headers.

Factory c900 rally car. From Saabworks website. 4" DP into 3" exhaust.

Wish I had something like that.

Here are some of the prototyping pictures. Since then I have lowered the header pipe and put in a heat shield to protect the inner tripod.

Also, the cat was upgraded. The secondary bung is for the wideband.

I'll post pictures of the modes sometime in the future.
