P0722 stop trans from moving?

As per my related thread, I believe I may have a major mechanical failure in the trans.

Will a 0722 code stop the trans from engaging in gear? Or would a fault TCU stop the trans from engaging at all (even limp home mode?)

I have removed the flexplate inspection panel and torque converter is moving when in gear - wheel does not try to turn at all.

Thank you for your help,

P0722 is a symptom, not the fault. It will not cause a transmission to not go into gear as it is only a reading sensor, not an acting sensor.

Running a p1624 now with a replaced trans.
