Budd!, I drove by Matt's house on Sunday, does he have a new Beryl green SPG?:D
No thats mine. We've been working on that for a few weeks. Hoping to get it donw now that spring break is here. I don't think his dad likes it sitting in his driveway.

youre lucky. you have the door guard things that are just glued on. Some are rivited on. you can pull those right off. But, that color has clearcoat so I wouldnt remove the emblems. You'll never get the marks they leave compunded out without destroying the clear.

well, its officially official now:

PRESS RELEASE: 2006 SAAB Owners' Convention
For Immediate Publication:

The SAAB Club of North America, Inc. is pleased to announce its selection for the 2006 SAAB Owners' Convention to be held in Lake George, New York August 24th-27th, 2006. The host hotel will be the Roaring Brook Resort and Conference Center, located just 2 miles Southwest of the village of Lake George, New York. This all-inclusive Adirondack family resort is situated on 500 rolling and wooded acres, with both indoor and outdoor swimming pools, five tennis courts, saunas, fitness rooms and 25 horses and wilderness horseback riding. Hiking and bicycle trails and several golf courses are also conveniently located.

While vintage SAAB fans will know Lake George for the ice racing activities during the winter months, Lake George has been named one of the eight top places in the nation for fun, affordable family vacations by Smart Money Magazine. The event will again have something for everyone. The southern end of Lake George is alive with events, cruise ships, arcades, mini-golf, wax museums, hiking and biking, shopping, night life & the famous Fort Wm. Henry Historic Museum. The northern end is a quiet respite in the heart of the Adirondacks. It is home to what we believe is the most beautiful, breathtaking lake in America. In addition to Lake George, there are also several fun side trips in the area including Ausible Canyon, Lake Placid and Fort Ticonderoga, to name just a few.

The 2006 Convention Committee will be chaired by Marc Fails. Bruce Harbison is the Concour Committee Chairman. Ron Nichipor is the People's Choice Chairman. John Webber will once again be providing the event artwork. Other notable activities scheduled for the convention include the ever popular autocross event and the dynamometer, so get those SAABs shined up, tuned up and ready to go. We also have something new planned for the group photo on Saturday that you will not want to be miss! Local clubs supporting SCNA, Inc. in the hosting of this event include the: New York SAAB Owners Club, Central Penn SAAB Club Washington DC SAAB Club and New England SAAB Association and Vintage SAAB Club of North America.
looks like fun, cant wait!

Paul

I'll be there... Marc Fails, eh? I could have sworn he ran running and screaming after SOC 03.

Do they have anything official on hotel blocks, so I can get about sorting that out?

Hmmm...way end of the summer - if I don't have my "super-senior" year starting around then, I might acutally be able to take a nice trip to the east...it's been a while :)

Somewhere in the middle of the country would be neat....somewhere with a lot of lakes, nice warm temps in the summer, far enough north that it's not just farm country ;-) Only kidding, I know there is very little likelyhood of an SOC ever ending up anywhere in the Midwest.

I'm definatly coming to this!! Any information on registration?

It was in Wisconsin a few years back, two years in a row IIRC. This was before my Saab addiction had really taken hold, so I wasn't there.

I think a southern Minnesota/northern Iowa SOC, co-hosted by the IA and MN Saab clubs, would be ideal.

Lake Okoboji, anyone? Or a Mississippi river location, perhaps.

Has any one heard anything about room blocks yet? or making arrangements for a flop house of some sort?
Staying on the resort would be cool because we can get drunk and not have to drive anywhere, but I don't want to spend an arm and a leg to stay there... what about camping area's near by? maybe we could arrange a saab link camping spot, or we can all just rent a couple of rooms and cause total mayhem.....ahem... you know... like everywhere we go :)
