Once we get to that movie parking lot, are we planning on making final decisions on the venue?
I'm thinking beaches and Redhook.

Also, can you move the meet time to noon?
11am is a bit early to get all my people together and out there.
I have about 10-15 people coming with me

Not all saabs
I do the Hampton/Red Hook meet every year with a bunch of guys. I haven't done it this summer yet and they all want to go along

Also, I like to do another similar event in October that we call Dubtoberfest at the Hook. Thinking of doing a Saabtoberfest at the Hook as well.

Anyone from the NorthShore, I'm leading a cruise up Route 1/1A. It's a fun twisty cruise

now don't get me a wrong a group of 10-15 people is great.. but i was pretty sure that this was a SAAB gtg. not other. if the people aren't driving saabs are they at least owners? now i am not trying to be uppity but.. i thought it was saab not other... kinda takes the fun out of the looks from people and stuff...

well, you guys can do your own thing then... when I suggested Hampton Beach in the original thread, it was because I was planning on going up there on August 13th anyway with my group.

In the past, I've found that excluding anyone in the least will cause a problem between groups.
I've been running my 'club' since 1999 and we work as a group even if we don't all drive VWs anymore.
I've gone from VWs to BMWs and now to Saabs. That means my group that I run with generally composes themselves of the like (plus some Japanese cars).

Otherwise I wouldn't have suggested Hampton Beach

as saabers can we really exclude others? come on now.... did anyone mind when that gti dynoed with us at the dyno day in westbrook? i hope not. sorry to derail your thread, i probably wont be going to your meet, too much else to do around the time, but, if people are psyched to hang out, talk about cars, why not?!

exactly.

You can learn alot too from other brands.

I guess I'll be doing my own thing then. Just keep in mind in the future that when I roll out to GTGs, I don't like leaving my guys behind.
I elected to leave my guys out of it on the Willows to Rockport cruise. One still was in the area to swing by though.

I'm not even going in the area to attend this event, but I don't think its fair to exclude people. We have a gtg every friday here in the DC area. Our group shows up to general meet for everyone just to look at cars.

Why exclude if everyone's just trying to have a good time?

#15 ·
thank you.
You need to realise that not ALL the vortexers are assholes at GTGs. in fact, most of them are totally different people when taken away from the keyboard and monitor. I hated most of them too when I was younger until I actually went to a GTG.
Plus, you may find some VW parts that fit your Saab... I know I did ;)

Ditto...

A GTG is a GTG. Chill, run with your friends, hang out, have fun....

Leave the exclusivity to the Bimmer guys, who have their "M-only" events all the time...

As someone who may or may not be attending the shindig, I gotta say; as long as they're cool with us, respect whoever the road captain is, and don't start any serious "my car is better than yours" bullshit, I don't care if they drive a Yugo. And bonus points if they can keep up ;)

yea, thats not cool to try and exclude other makes of cars....one of my good freinds is a dubber/vortexer(adio) if you recognize him chapel, but anyway, the reason that we hate BMW's is cause they have this cocky ass mother fuckin arrogant prick kinda attitude that bimmers are "above" all other makes.

are we really like that? i hope not.

At Carlisle when i was at the volvo section, a couples guys said we were one of the nicest groups there

#25 ·
everyone chill out.... this is going to be my girlfriends first event... she lives in Hampton and she wants to buy a Viggen vert, so lets show her a good time ;)

in response to all this intermingling of the cars thing.

My "group" recently had an april fools gtg in hampton falls with a cruise to rt 1A. We had ducati's, audi's vw's, subies, saabs, porsches, BMW's and even a dodge truck. Seriously. Saabs are no better than any other brand so everyone needs to get off their high horse.

The more the merrier, and if no-one wants to respect the road captain, than that is their choice. It doesnt matter, im more for the gtg part than the cruise. I like looking at cars and talking to the owners.

I dont know what everyone is expecting, but I am not going on rt 1A to be a dickhead, passing on the right and over double yellows and shit like that. That gets rediculous.

Regardless, I was inviting my friends with gli's, m3's, 328's, rx7's, gti's, the list goes on. Really, stop being rediculous and realize that people who drive other cars are enthusiasts too.

Besides, if you want my honest opinion.......And absolutely no offense to Zack(or whoever made claremont happen(great job) local weekly vw gtg's were better than a cruise way up to NH. It doesnt have to be this great big production with sponsors and national coverage of all saabs. It can just be friends joining up and sitting down at the red hook for a brew.
