Hi all,
i've got a 94 saab 900NG 5 speed. its a 2.3L Non-turbo. recently after parking it i was not able to reverse out of the parking spot. since then it has not even acted like it has reverse. putting it in reverse is like putting it in neutral.
I've read that it could be a linkage problem from age and wear. although i also fear that either the previous owner or myself beat up the reverse gear enough for it to let go.
should i swap/rebuild the trans? or should i try to find a linkage? or put it in first gear and roll it off a cliff?
thanks-SZ

Hey, sounds like it could be your linkage, take the boot off and inspect the plastic bits down there to make sure they aren't broken.

If your reverse gear is indeed shot, I do have a 2.3L NA parts car with a good manual tranny I could sell you, I am also in NY so pickup should be possible.

Shoot me a PM if you are interested.

Unless you can put the transmission in yourself or you just cant live without that particular saab, you could get a new turbo charged saab for the price it would cost for a used transmission an install , just a thought , i see ng 900 conv go for around 2 grand and non converts for 1500 , good luck no matter what you decide on
