NG900 vs. BMW Z8

That's not a typo, I got to race a $120k BMW Z8 convertible, like the one from the Bond movie.

I was on my way to Carlisle, on Saturday morning, and was filling up at a gas station. I had about 70 mile to drive to Carlisle from my friend's house. Next to me at the pump was a BMW Z8. We ended up leaving the gas station at the same time and both of us got onto the highway. As it turned out he was heading to Carlisle too, so for 70 miles we got to play on the highway. We started off easy at first. We would just take turns flying past each other as one of us got stuck in the right lane. But nearing Carlisle we were able to line up side by side. The Z8 driver was an older guy, early fifties, and I saw him smile and gun it. So at about 80 mph we both gunned it as I had dropped down to 4th gear. I expected him to be faster than me, but I was surprised how well my Saab performed. The Z8 slowly walked on me as we raced through 4th gear. By redline I was doing 135 mph and the Z8 was 2 car lengths in front of me and I shut it down.

I was pretty happy with the race. I had my friend in the Saab with me along with about 100 lbs of Saab parts. The Z8 has a 4.8L V8 making 375 hp, but was only walking on me during the race.

I know this isnt what you want to hear but
"Ask any racer, any real racer, It doesn't matter if you win by an inch or a mile, winning's winning."

that being said well done.

eh i dunno man when you put a 4 cyl saab up against a $120k v8 supercar and you stay within sight....thats pretty much a win right there.

see you wouldnt understand that concept, what with the lack of power and all....

Man maybe it's just me but all these N/A guys are really hardcore about two things, racing, and fast and the furious. Gearhead maybe I'm retarded but a 900s is an NA, good luck getting anywhere near a Z8 in that, ever. ERP demonstrated that with determination and some time and ingenuity that he could make a relatively inexpensive saab run with some of the big boys. And to top it off he wasn't even claiming a win, just expressing satasfaction at how he kept up, so why post a quote trashing on it?
