I need some advice on setting up a 4 channel amp. (audiobahn A4004T) I already have a Pioneer 760W back there with an 8 gauge kit. What is the least expensive way to wire the new amp up? Do I need 0 noise interconnects? Outside of mounting them to the backs of the seats, where else can I mount the amps?(the pioneer is just screwed to the box)

Any input appreciated...

P.S. What do you recommend for the rear 6x9s

Hey. 8 gauge is not very good to be running that much power off of. I would recommend at least 4 gauge. As for mounting, be creative. I am not 100% familiar with the saab 900 trunk, but the back of the seats is fine(in my opinion). If you have any other questions..email me..cause i love doing sound isntalls and anything with them :) :)

Unless your looking to do ALOT of custom work, I'd suggest mounting the amp either on the sub box you plan to use, or to the rear seats.

As for the power and ground....You should run 4guage from the battery to a dist. block, then 8guage to your amp (since 4guage won't fit). You should run the same to ground.

As for the 6x9s...I like the Infinity Kappa Series. Im looking to upgrade to Infinity as well.

Thankx

Dan and Blaque_out:Thanks for the advice,
Boxerchip; Actually my car is a NG900 V6, u can tell by the bumper...

Looks like I will go with a 4 gauge kit and run it to a dis-block, any advice on the interconects?

I would like to mount the amps into the sides behind the wheel wells, I think i've seen it done somewhere before, if nothing else i will mount the amps to the seat backs.

My 1.2 Farad cap is in the mail...should be here tommorrow.

V6, I saw someone mount their amp on the side like what your talking about. I don't see why it wouldn't work.

Here is a pic of what I wound up with....
<img src=http://home.comcast.net/%7Etludwick106014mi/stereophase2.jpg>
The Audiobahn A4004T (of course)
Infinity 9603i 6x9 3way 300W Speakers (just couldnt afford kappas)
And some ebay $50 dual amp 4 gauge wiring kit (American Thunder?)
Do I need a capacitor?

Also I added an Audiobahn AX 203 crossover so Ican control the bass from the front seat (it was only $40)

Looks good. You'll only need a cap if your running subs...otherwise you should be fine.

That looks sweet!

With the stock sound system in a NG900 (no amplifier) can I upgrade my rear speakers and get some mad bass out of them? If so, what does everyone recommend? If not, if I buy an amp and plug it into the stock head unit of the saab will I get more power?

You can upgrade your rears, but as far as alot of bass....not gonna happen lol. They're only 6x9s and don't compare to a 10" or 12". But anything is better than stock IMHO.

Yeah my rear driver's side is buzzing like crazy lately. The thing is I am really happy with the stock rear 6x9s, they pump out great bass for the car. And when I went to Best Buy and checked out some 6x9s, none of them were giving out any bass, no matter how loud I turned them up! So I am worried if I upgrade, the bass level will go down, when in fact I want more bass since I have to replace the rears soon anyway.

thats why you do like i did, and change the size, you have to look at the physics behind it. you have to know about sound, and waves, and if you do, then you know that sound that comes out of an oval shapped speaker will already sound shitty, thats why things are better coming out of a round speaker, and since the rear speakers are 6X9's you need some good old 6'ers, i picked up a set of boston fx6's, really really nice, 100 for the pair, i had tweeter make me a custom plate so they'd fit, but the rest was me, and those are hooked up to an amp for just the rear speakers, and it's a coustics 161se, it's only 40 watts to each rear speaker but it's good, you do not want to amplify your front speakers with that amp, unless you are talking about door speakers. if you are talking about the dash speakers it is among your best interests to keep that at the stock 12 watts, upgrade the speakers though, they are 3.5 inches i think, and i upgraded mine to boston fx3's really good speakers. the reason you don't want to put more power to the dash speakers is because of their location, they are right next to the windshield, and because of the acoustic properties of glass, it just bounces off and hits you right in the face, and you get blasted with trebble. not good. also, the front speakers, since they are small, are not good at all for bass frequencies, so you may want to install an inline crossovers on the speakers, it's easy to do, it's basically just some resistors at the end of the stock wires then plug into the new speaker, easy to do. i left the stock head unit because i like the looks of it in the dash, and i had to get a special 90 degree bend wire to plug an aftermarket amp in to it to do that, i also have an mtx 4250d amp, and two 12 inch mtx subs, but you're only asking about normal speakers so...

sorry i took so long to find and respond to this thread, been busy, and haven't seen it. if you want more info, you can either ask on here or pm me, up to you

More install pics

Well I went out today before it got dark and tried to snap a few install pics, beware the pictures are pretty bad, it was sorta a spur of the moment type thing. Will get some better ones when I get some DECENT WEATHER! (in Michigan who know's how long that might take) here's where the wires enter the trunk, through the holes for the cargo hooks.

This is what I am left with currently:(spaghetti :oops: ) Workin on the amp rack this week, will post pics when finished...

I would have some more install pics but I just got the doorsills back down (4 gauge wire is much thicker than what is meant to go under saab doorsills :roll: )

CURRENT ISSUES:
First off now that there are 4 rca's back there the head unit doesn't go back flush into the dash:
<img src=http://home.comcast.net/%7Etludwick106014mi/HUout.jpg>
Also there is an ANNOYING buzz that comes from all the speakers when the car is running, there is no buzz whatsoever when the car is off, (running on bat.) I have the rca's run down the pass side and the power goes down the driver. Someone recently told me that the amps might not be grounded properly. I have the ground attached to a bolt goin through the bottom of my trunk, however it might be rusting, could that be causing it? Here are some pics of the ground:(top)
<img src=http://home.comcast.net/%7Etludwick106014mi/ground1.jpg>(bottom)<img src=http://home.comcast.net/%7Etludwick106014mi/ground2.jpg>

The plan was to get it bumpin not buzzin :roll:......
