I changed the name of this thread to N/A Intake Designs for people who want to get an idea of what to do for the N/A Saab.

i am interested as well, must be a straight shot tube from throttle body to filter, with no 90 degree bend over the throttle body, that really hurts air flow, and i do not want it to shrink down for the mas, have them some how incorporate it into the tube itself

Justin, what your asking for is pretty much an entire remodel. You would need a whole new throttle body, along with a new MAF sensor to do all that. Currently the MAF sensor is 2.5"...and you can't remove it. So either they go 2.5", or 3" to 2.5" conversion for the MAF. The intake for the throttle body is the top which means a 90 deg bend is required, otherwise you hit the hood.

uh no, my jeep had a throttle body right on top of the engine, just like most engines do, but not all, and that had this big (i think it was called a pantera) round thing that goes over the throttle body, they could do something like that, i'll post a picture of what it looked like for my jeep, they should do something like this

Maybe we should just let them come up with an efficient design.

yeah, we'll let them do it, it's better that way, i just don't want a huge restriciton in the intake

I have had a setup without resonator on one of our old test / loaner cars for some time now. (95 900 2.3 auto ~70K miles) Getting turbo soon. but that is another post.

I can tell you that it is VERY loud without the resonator. We have it currently tuned for about 3K and 6K rpm. By redline it gets really old quick. Only about 5% of people do not complain about it. I do not have a good feeling about selling them. Most of the gains is from modifying / removing the airbox with a high flow filter.

Nick, first off welcome to the site. We've been waiting for you.

Second, about the NA intake. When referring to the noise level are you speaking about the intake "sucking" noise? If so, where is the resonator located that your speacking out.

welcome nick, honestly i love the intake noise, the wushing sound, my friend did some mods to his car, and you could really hear the air flowing a lot faster, and my friends and i all love the noise.

i'd still buy it, i like loud intakes, not loud exhausts

The sound is not the classic intake roar. That is a desirable sound. We are encountering a resonance of the cabin at a certain rpm. We can adjust the effective length of the intake to change this effect but have not been able to eliminate it. :roll:

Anyone is welcome to come by the store and flog the car around to see what I am talking about. I could throw some kits together too.

It may just be me. More of a turbo boost person.

when you say resinator box, do you mean what? where is it?

saabindru900, where did you get that piece of pipe, and for how much?
i don't know if i like it going down so i have to remove the fog light, but i'm sure i'd get still a lot of airflow if i moved it down there anyway, right?

See the big ass box above the word Saab...That goes around the oil cap...The purpose of that is to quiet the sound of the air rushing into the engine. It's just a big open area the air flows into, rather than going straight into the intake manifold...What a waste....

as saabindru900 said even with the resonattor he had more intake noise. Without resonator it is very loud. Almost too much of a good thing.

you know, you might not have to remove your fog light, and it would still be sheltered by the light from rain. i only removed mine because it caught a rock. but i think it would be better down in your body, rather than close to your engine block.

i got the tubing from a perfromance shop, it was about 30-40 bucks, and you need a that yellow silicone reducer. i dunno if you guys have any ricer shops (sure you do) out there, but thats where i went to get the pieces.

that huge thing is the resonator, lol, crap, see, now if you could replace the resonator with a much smaller resonator, maybe 8 inches in diamer, and twice as thick, that would be really good, with a 3 inch inlet. would something like that work out nick?

and saabindru, i live in maine, we don't have many ricer shops, but we have a lot of offroad shops. what did you tell them you wanted for the pipe? what measurements? is it stainless steal? i'm definately gonna drop it down away from the engine block, very wise

i wish i knew where mine was. i ordered it two weeks ago and i have had no response or anything, other than my order confirmation. i called taliaferro and they said the computer wasn't on and they didnt know where it was. i sent genuinesab a pm a few days ago and still nothing. i just want my intake :(
