This is really only applicable for the T7 SAABs, such as the 9-5 and the og9-3, but it could also apply to ng900s and 9000s...although they are less prone to screen clogging on the oil pickup tube.

This is what my bosses fit to their own personal cars, it is a modified oil pan. If has a hole cut in it and a heavy plate with an access hole welded in place. There is a replaceable O-ring in there I believe, which keeps it all sealed up.

I think these run around $250 w/ exchange of oil your oil pan, + install. In my opinion a modification like this would be a great idea for anyone with a T7 motor to ensure a long running life. It makes is possible to use the stock "fine" screen and clean it at regular intervals to keep the crap out of your motor. Much,. much easier than dropping the oil pan!

Proabably, the elder of my bosses is involved with nines...to be honest, I don't know who makes these (it's not in house), but I know we have them on hand.

I saw that advertised over at TSN. Even if you don't have a T7 motor thats a good idea if you got major power running through your motor.
I havn't been on TSN forever...I'll check it out.

Funny thing...that car has a cheap NAPA filter on it  If I'm going to drop 200-300 on a new pan with a hole in it, then I've surly going to drop a few extra $$s on a SAAB/GM long-life filter!

I don't see how these are actually that important. You drop the pan once, clean whats there, install PCV6 for peace of mind and change the oil with a quality synthetic regularly. Shouldn't ever sludge again.

I only have my personal experiences to go by, but if the car truly sludges up again it has to come down to poor maintenance. Sludge doesn't just magically appear on a perfectly maintained car. Maybe if you saved a car on the brink of failure with a totally clogged screen, you could justify installing one of these to just check on it periodically after the initial cleaning.
