Droid X > Iphone 4
I have att
ive had it since 2000 not changing anytime soon.
Typing on mine now. Just had to wait on it. Put myself on the waiting list the day it came out.
I have the iphone 3g.

Slow as sin on OS4.

Annoying.
Had an iPhone 3G. OS4 slowed it way down. I put myself on the waiting list for the iPhone 4 about 3 weeks after it came out and got it 4 days later. I absolutely love it. All the problems on the 3G that OS4 caused are just because the processor in the 3GS is twice as fast as the 3G, and the iPhone 4 is twice as fast as that. Just go to an Apple store and put your name on the list.

LOL good luck with that

same here. at least apple has finally acknowledged the issue and is working on it.

i'll probably wait for the iPhone 4G to upgrade.
Reason i want it now is because im selling my 8900 curve, and dont really want to sit around without a phone. I might just wait another 2weeks till its in stock.
I have had the iPhone 3G, 3GS, and now the 4. Almost all my friends have droid phones and I can't but help feel like it's the new "Apple". People are just getting it because it's different, because it's not Apple.

If you want one, just put your name on a list. It won't hurt anything.

OS4 runs flawlessly on the iPhone 4 too.
Soooo sick of Apple. I have an iphone 3G, it was great, now theres so much more variety out there in phones. My contract will thankfully be up around xmas time, so I'll be heading out to the next best droid, or see what the wp7's are looking like, those could be pretty hot.

Funniest blog I've read in a while is fake steve jobs, fucking hilarious and almost the truth at times. Gawd I hope apple dies, too many good people have turned into fanboi zombies at the hands of the draconian mastermind Steve-o

I agree that there are some folks that grab the android devices because of the Google stigma, but many who buy Apple products do so for the same reasons (status symbol...etc). In a comparison between the two operating systems the Android OS is clearly superior, and in regards to hardware you have variety to choose from (also a benefit).

Apple just finally decided to let users run multiple apps at the same time, and is allowing a little more development freedom here and there (still sparse). I haven't had the chance to play around with an iPhone 4 yet, but hopefully it's somewhat more rugged than the previous designs. I can't remember how many times I've heard people bitch about cracking the screens (and of course that wonderful AT&T service). Also they are still selling out even though they have officially published hardware problems (status symbol once again).

I suppose in the end it's personal preference....regardless of the pros and cons. I just got my dad to switch from iPhone to a Samsung Captivate (Android). He's happily converted. As a developer I've worked with most platforms, and I will say that iPhone OS and Android OS are easily the most intuitive available. If not for it's shortcomings the iPhone could really take the cake. Blackberry and Nokia devices still have a long way to go, and not really sure what to expect from Windows Phone Series 7 yet.

i cant believe people still buy blackberry's first of all. anyone i knew with one went through at least 6-8 a year.

i still have an iphone 1g going 3 years strong. compared to the service i used to get with verizon its laughable. my mom is the only one in the fam still on verizon and is always using our phones because she never has service, so i dont know why people complain aout att so much.

my dad got a 4 last week...its pretty slick, finaly has all the features my hacked 1g has had for years lol. it does run pretty damn fast tho, and the built in gps is nice too. when i get a job ill get one.
I might be one of the few but I honestly don't care who made the iPhone, I would still buy it. I didn't get it because it's Apple, frankly I dislike them, but have continued to get the phone because of it's features. It's a well made phone on many accounts. I am not knocking the Droid phones, but my experience between them has proved the iphone better, in my eyes.

I have a BlackBerry for work, and I have never wanted to destroy a phone so bad as I do that one.

True i have the curve 8900 it freezes a lot. I can never keep more than 2 days of texts on it.
I'll be one to say that I HATE the Droid that I have for work. There are way too many little interface glitches that should have been worked out long ago in user testing that still crop up.

Anyone with most kinds of technical backgrounds notice it immediately - your average consumer isn't bothered by them, has been my experience talking to people about whether they like theirs or not.

I will be getting something else when my little LG Fusic dies.

Best,
Drew

Interface glitches on the Droid? You must have a bum phone.

Edit: One problem I've encountered on the Droid is the physical keyboard and repeating characters. Not sure if it's wearing out, or it's software related. Oh well Moto is already releasing Droid 2 soon anyway.
I have the HTC Evo. Android 2.2 just got pushed out to it this week and to me the phone keeps getting better and better (and it was great when I first got it). I like the fact that it is heavily customizable. If I don't like the stock Application launcher I can just download another one.

I just installed Swype Beta on my phone and texting with that is amazing.
I could go on and on, however I'm a Fanboi of neither Android or iOS4.

I have used the iPhone 4 and I think it is a great device, in typical Apple fashion in looks very nice and feels solid in your hand. I think both devices have their short comings while each one also has a one up on the other.

I can put aside the antenna issue on the iPhone4. I think it was a bone head move to make the SS band around the phone an antenna (likely they never noticed a problem during testing, because they always had a case on it to disguise it as a 3GS) however after playing with a friends iPhone, you literally have to jam the phone into your hand to cause any signal issues. I mean really who holds a phone that way anyway. Just use a few fingers and hold it like a normal person or get your free bumper case.

Me, I'm not a fan of AT&T, I had them for work a few years back and always had bad luck with them (Of course as with any network this is very area specific).
I do feel the iPhone is bit controlled by the Apple mother-ship, but the typical end user who doesn't even use half the features of the phone doesn't care and it is merely a status symbol. With that said I may have considered the iPhone had it been on a different network.
I did just move over to the dark-side for my laptop as I just started using a Mac Book Pro. Figured it's about time to give it a try (plus it's just a fancy PC anyway being that is all Intel based anyway) and I can always run windows 7 on it. I am loving the 6-7 hours of battery life I can get with it.

With all that said, I am loving my Evo and for me definitely feel it's a better fit for me.
I don't really know why people get so heated and waste their time arguing over which platform is better. Just buy what you want and stop trying to convert everyone else.

Sorry about the ramblings/long thread.
