not to offend, but i say fail on the painted moldings, the gold, and the black with red stripe. the black doesn't look too bad. i know how you feel when you want to try something different on a budget. that's how people usually come up with something innovative. so keep at it!

have you thought of color matching the wheels? i used to be into older AMG mercs, and the color matched signal red penta wheels always look teh sex. maybe a pchop?

red rims on red aero= fail

ehhh.. well if your going for something unique.. haha.. red would certainly be different. so what are you going to do then? back to black?

what size are those stock aero wheels? i bought my aero with some 3-spoke wheels i've never seen before. Procast?? you guys heard of them?

full red wheels would be rice!!! who said anything about wanting to be unique, I am simply having some fun with my car's appearance. I just painted the wheels black. Waiting to do the "speedline" pin stripe.

p.s. The wheels on my car are the super aero. Now I could be wrong but I believe all aeros came with that wheel. correct me if I am wrong.

all aeros came with the procast wheels? or the super aeros?

idk, man.. the whole speedline thing is ricey, imo.. i see alot of cheapo ricetastic wheels like tenzo, sportmax and all that with black spokes and a red lip.

I still don't know what your talking about I have a feeling that your perception is skewed, They are not rice at all. They are more of a bmw thing more than anything and that as far from rice as you can get. your the one suggesting color matched wheel, now that is rice.

go do some research and look up volk time attack.

Its a step in the right direction.

I don't think the gold turned out poorly because of the color, but more because of the uneven paint job, and to be constructivly critical...it appears that you are barking up the same tree with the black paint job.

That was one of the first coats with the flat primer, I was just out in the garage wet sanding in 100 degree heat. but they will look a lot better with the final coats on them.

i wasn't trying to start a flame war, just giving you some constructive critisizm. idk how many BMWs you've owned or how many people you know but i have yet to see a single BMW with wheels like that. trust me. i'm on bimmerforums, azbmw, rev, m42club.. i go to bi-weekly BMW meets and monthly meets at EVO motorsports. i know just about everyone in the local community and i have yet to see that. my last toy was a late model E30 and i wouldn't be caught dead with black wheels with a red stripe. however if i had an EG or EK civic with some mugen wheels with a red stripe, i'm sure it wouldn't look half bad (for a civic).

as for color matching, it's been done on AMG mercedes, lamborghini, and a few other exotics. i was just giving you an idea. can't imagine it looking any better or worse than the other colors you've tried. nothing is going to look as good as OEM silver.. but seriously.. crack open an import tuner magazine or search ebay. black with a red stripe is the new rice hottness. sportmax, drag, axis, tenzo, konig, and many other super cheapo rice companies are offering these.

i may be a noob on this forum and i've only had my saab for a month, but i'm a vetran in the performance industry. the only reason i bothered to reply was because you insulted the BMW community!

Color matched my 240 turbo, and did a "chrome delete", all the chrome went body color,
Duplicolr Ford Wimbledon white, is a dead match for my 145, same color as the 244, maybe "Swedish Bone?" IDK what Vulva called it, but it gave me a bone, had that "AMG" look to it, the Virgo's in the Ivory, the black freshened....... In My humble opinion, even though I am running Virgo's now in Gold, BBS style Mesh rims are the only thing that looks right in Gold, well, a Blue WRX pulls the Gold off well. Good luck on finding the color combo that looks right to your eyes.

I think the Virgo's on the 145 look all right in gold, borderline hot, my buddy who sold me the car, thinks nt, personal preference. Got flamed hardcore for dechroming Olga or whatever I called my turb, but... Chrome is best suited (at the ungodly level 80's Vovl went for) on a Cadillac, and the monochromatic scheme with Black trim looked right enuff to me, that I could have cared less what the world thought.

Some Volv eyecandy to follow, you judge, the lights on the front are off a 1971 280 SEL.

I think that gold looks alright... must need to adjust the quality setting on the Blackberry, or clean the lens, I swear the other pics I have posted aren't so grainy.
