yep. no joke.

i was on my way home from a nice long ride, after stopping for lunch and apple pie in Julian, CA. was heading west on the 78 (still east of the 15) and got caught behind a brand spanking new looking 911 turbo with dealer plates on it.

waiting, waiting, waiting, until i had a bit of a straight to pull around him before getting back into the twisties. cruising at 50 (speed limit 55), dropped to third, opened the throttle, drop the clutch and i was around him. i slow way down for the first of several curves and notice that he has pulled right up on my tail. i accelerate through the turn and he follows suit.

i lean hard into the next turn, doing about 70 (in a marked 35mph turn) and can hear his tires making a little noise. i know i could have taken the turn faster, but i dont know the road that well, so i am going easy. i pull away just a bit through the next couple of turns before popping a wheelie and riding that out into the triple digits on the speedo.

oh, wait, he didnt stand a chance. i was on my '07 Suzuki GSX-R600. am i posting this in the wrong forum?

Nice, but FYI, i watched a brand new 911 turbo run an 11.7 on a track not known for being fast..... i'm not 100% up to date on what the new 600's do, but i think it would give you a run for your money for a while.

I would say yeah if you have a pro riding a bike vs a guy whos probably a salesman (dealer tags) who knows, i'm just saying if two people went at it from a standing 1/4, statistically it potentially wouldn't be a rape.

Eh i really don't wanna get into this debate so i'm gonna let it go at this.... on a tight track where they cant take advantage of the narrowness of the bike in finding a more straight line, a bike generally won't corner as well as a high performance car, its common knowledge, also you can't just go hard into a corner on a bike and then jam brakes, its much more complicated. I'm sure your a skilled rider and all, probably better than i am for all i know, but i think with the right driver a 911 could leave you behind on some back roads, i know it could happen to me, i'm just not willing to risk killing myself....
