Heading out to Seattle/Portland area next week for a long needed vacation. Any locals out there have any recommendations for things to do, places to go? Best kept secrets? I've never been to the area before, so any recommendations would be appreciated!

Thanks,

Definitely go to Pike Place Market, the Space needle, EMP if you're into music, and Alki beach (great views of Seattle from across the water). Dick's is a really neat restaurant near University of Washington, which has a really nice campus this time of year. Gasworks park has the best view of downtown, ohh and the first Red Robin is right down that way (the red robin is stoned on the mural they have inside). That's all in Seattle. Pike Place, the Space Needle and EMP are very close. Dick's, UW, Gasworks and Red Robin are in the same area. Alki Beach is a 15 minute drive from downtown.

You're going to Missoula as well, right? Most of the drive from Seattle to Missoula is really boring (driving through a desert). But once you hit Spokane, it gets better. The drive from Spokane to Missoula is riddled with tourist traps, and the police up that way are very strict. I definitely recommend going to Glacier National Park, it's just a few hours from Missoula. If you have the time I wouldn't miss Yellowstone. It's ten times better than Glacier but it's a longer drive.

IF that were me, I'd probably have Kaylan pick me up at the airport in her 9k and get some JITB, at 2am. But that's just me.
Oh ya that was fun! I have a stock Aero seat in for the passengers comfort now. ;)

If you want to see/ride in my car it should be running. No promises.

Hahaha, thanks guys for the suggestions!

I'm going to be driving around in a..... trailblazer, yes I said it, while I'm out there, so it'd definitely be nice to see some of your cars! I'd be down for getting together at some point with people, my week is totally unplanned for a reason, hahaha.

I'm getting into town monday night (23rd) around 10:30pm, and I'm in seattle for the week, then the following week in montana.

So, the list is:
EMP, Dicks, Sci Fi museum, Museum of Glass, Lemay Car Museum, Microbreweries, Pikes Place, Alki Beach, Mt Rainier and Olympic NP, 10000 Silver Dollars (wtf? haha)...

Any other additions? I really appreciate the input! thanks!

Drive around the Ballard district if you want to see saabs at every intersection. There are so many here! Then if you are looking for some really good seafood, hit up Rays Boathouse just a little bit further up the shore.

Off topic: Found *another* LB Viggen that lives very close to my house. Saw him on my way home today and followed until he pulled into an apartment parking lot. Idaho plates. Anybody here? Also had "viggen" frost painted above the passenger-side rear bumper.

If you hit up Portland, you must go to Powells Books (largest bookstore in the US, great used books), drink a ton of micro-brews, walk along Waterfront Park, hit up the Japanese Garden, drink some more microbrews and sit and people watch.

If you have time, I'd drive out to the Oregon Coast (Highway 101) and see some beautifl sights.
