I was just doing some random googling, and I discovered that the woman I dated right before I started dating my wife died "after a prolonged illness" in 2004. No other details.

We only dated 6 weeks, and I had no regrets at all. I had given her no thought at all in the last 15 years. But you all know the intoxicating power of google, and there it was . . .

She was my age.

Wow.

For the longest time I couldn't remember the spelling of her last name. (It was an odd one). I was reading something else on the 'net, completed unrelated, and the author's last name was the same, and I went "aha - that was Katy's last name" and googled her. I always wondered what happened to her. Now I know.

Wow, that's random. And depressing.

My dad "updates" his high school yearbook. When someone croaks, he writes a line through their name, and writes DIED next to the name.

I have been trying to get him to admit that he's keeping score, but he won't cop to it.

I google peoples names out of random (including my own) never got anything like this, just learned that my friend Diana moved to Peru, my cousin has the same name as a personal coach whos also an author and she still gets awards and newspaper articles written up on her (my cousin, not the author), theres a politician in New York with the same exact name as me (and i have an odd last name);neither of us have been busted for soliciting prostitution.

Sorry to hear Greg. I actually just informed a friend his former classmate died 3 years ago, that was uncomfortable.

With all due respect, and condolences, to Mr. Abbott, I was raised by a pack of wild photographers, so I do prefer this version:

As for Linkers always on the death watch? There's at least one, but I'll never tell.

similar surprise, i just found out this morning that someone i dated last year died yesterday of lymphoma. he was only like 36 or 37.

apparently he was diagnosed with a non-aggressive type in 2003, but he didn't tell anyone that he had it. in january, he came down with pneumonia, went to the hospital, and turns out the cancer had turned aggressive. died yesterday afternoon.

i hung out with him at his place for new years this year, and just like that he's not going to be around anymore.

be nice to your acquaintances. you never know when they'll just disappear like that and be gone from your lives forever.
