i knew the second i saw the title of this thread that tweek had wrote it.... how did you land a job at a funeral home anyway? what do you do?

Well, I got an associates degree in Mortuary Arts, and Science from Simmons in Syracuse. Then I did the required 1 year apprenticeship. After taking a state exam, I was granted my NYS Funeral Directers license.

I am a Funeral Director. Usually I just pick up the bodies (removals) and do the embalmings. I also do the makeup and whatever else. Usually my boss runs the funerals but thats my job when he is on vacation. During the funeral I usually drive the flower car.

oh...my...god you have the worst job, you have to like touch all the dead people, and all kinds of nasty icky stuff, eww, i can't stand seeing the dead, let alone touching them, omg...

Not enough, I'd rather touch the dead than the living. Its the living that you have to look out for :roll:

ha ha, guys, I'm just saying when you shake some living human hand, you have know idea if he sneezed in it, went #2 and didn't wash, or god knows what. At least I can be certain that the bacteria is at a manageble level.

btw, here is a pic of my caddy.

I plan on restoring it down the road, and leasing it out. I'll describe it.

It was built by the same company, that did the bulletprofing on the presidential limos. The car is a Sayers and Scoville Victoria, Curbservice, Landau. S&S is was owned by Hess and Eisenhardt. The Victoria name denotes its Victorian style S bar on iether side (Landau Bar) as commenly seen on most hearses.

It is a Curbservice, since the doors open suicide style, and it has no B pillar. I shit you not, you can drive a neon thru it, the doors are that big. It has a solid hardwood casket table, that slides out both sides and the rear. It has the standard 390 Cid, Caddy V8, with reverse on the far right of the shift dial. The interior is a nice blue, with dark blue diamonds, and metalic threads. It has 3 chrome bars on the inside on walls. Being the premier Coach builder, S&S used Stainless roof trim, not chromed steel, or fibre glass like on cheaper Superiors, or Miller Meteors.

Whats the deal?

American hearses all seem to be closed off etc..
Where here in the UK, it's all open, full size side glass so the coffin is on full view?

Oh that Saab Limo at the bottom is beautiful. I wouldn't mind driving in the back of that to a dance.

This is a limo style hearse. The full window style really lost popularity with the demise of the car based ambulance.

Most American hearses take after old horse and buggy type carrages. The landau bar, signifiying the old roof hinges to drop the buggys top.

HOLY F*CKING SH*T!!!!! saab makes hearses?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!?!? that is some crazy stuff right there my friends!

the saab limo is pretty sweet though, i love it, but jesus a fricken saab hearse, i think i'm gonna be sick...

Why is it such a big deal? someone has to make hearse's, they are only cars... they carry dead people granded but still, just a car.

SAAB don't make em..

Specialist coachbuilders take a car, and convert it, to either hearse or limo, for the UK Coleman milne is one of the major players.
