Fuckin' Subarus... just helped my neighbor pull the spark plugs on his girlfriend's 97 Legacy 2.5 cause he didn't know what he was doing. What a pain in the ass, they're so poorlyl ocated.

Also, the car had 238,000+ miles and still looks pretty good. But damn how irritating that was. My hands are so scraped up.

I don't think the plugs had ever been changed, first off. They were in there pretty damn good. Also, a 3" extender was needed to get at them, and that left almost no room to turn or angle the extender + plug tool into the orifice. It took tons of resourcefulness and some force.

F-150 and the Expedition are some of the most annoying rear drive vehicles to do plugs and wires to. And when they come in for misfires they always seem to be the rear most plugs...annoying

238k on one set of plugs? Jeebus.
That seems very improbable, if not impossible.

Subarus aren't that hard to change plugs on, IMO. But at least you got it done, that's the important part.

238k on a set of plugs obviously wasn't the case... But I've never had to deal with plugs that were that difficult to get turning, I don't know what the deal was. And for how worn down and shitty they looked, that's why I said they were never changed. A little bit of overstatement, no biggie.

On the Sunbeam Tiger you had to get at the rear two plugs from inside of the car. I know on the late 70s Trans Ams you had to go in through the wheel well to get at the plugs, an if I'm not mistaken the late 70s Chevy Monza with the V-8 engine you had to jack the motor up to get at them. So in conclusion spark plug changing has always been a bitch in certian cars. You now have ythem out good luck getting them back in.:)

Yeah, same thing with the plugs on big block(428/429) mustangs, you had to pull the engine a bit as the heads were like 1.5"s from the shock towers.

I heard the plugs on the SVX were a bitch, but people would cut access holes in the inner fender liner and made it much easier.

berretta is easy, if you have trouble with that then you should probably post in the new memebers section...

any flat engine like subie, porsche.....are gonna be hard to change. The older VR6's are hard to do too. in fact.....now that i think about it....besides the 1.8t, most euro engines are harder then their jap counterparts.

GTI is on par with a RSX

High end accord=a4

its easier in both the jap cars..
