Alright, I've been trying to figure this out for some time now.
Our '04 9-3 makes brake noise when going over bumps when your foot isn't on the brakes. If you put your foot on the brake the noise goes away. Is this from the pads rattling while the brake isn't depressed? Is there anything that can be done about this? It does it with, and without the spring retainer on the caliper (currently the spring retainer isn't on, and I'm planning on getting new ones to see if that quiets it).
Any other ideas? Everything is lubed up. I'm contemplating replacing the plastic (or rubber) caliper slides as well.
Less than 10k on the brakes. Both pads and rotors.
And it's not making "brake noise"... I should of described that better. It's making a clunking noise, to the point that I thought it needed new struts, but the noise goes away with the pedal depressed.
Any update on this? I'm having same issue. Recently i changed the front brakes. Driver side is missing the anti rattle clip and passenger side clip is still there but i can hear the rattling noise from both sides. Noise goes away when i press the brake.
