so i just got a 9-5 :D

but its got some problems, which i knew when i got it (cheap-ish ;) )

1st of all, the check engine light is on n it has codes

P1230
P1105
P0134
P0133

It says its "sensor 1 bank1" ...which o2 sensor is this talking about? i have a universal sensor that came with the car n wanna put it in the right spot. is there a difference in the seosors besides their locations??? i looked at pix of ones online n couldnt tell

2nd... i was just lookin at the wastegate n found the arm isn't connected  (that would explain the lack of the "psssshh!" sound, i thought it was just limp home mode doin that.

Any1 got a pic of what it should look like/how it should be connected? i can see where i think it hooks up to the turbo but it wont reach (i didnt try to force it since idk if a link's missing)

*edit* http://www.saablink.net/forum/showthread.php?t=20600&highlight=wastegate
i should've searched for this 1st, sorry

3rd... limp home mode... the little wheel with the nothes on it is turning with the rest of it, i tried to do the reset thing like i saw on youtube but i just cant get it, am i not using enough force or maybe doin somethin wrong possibly?

thanx in advance :)

That is the front sensor, now difference except for the length of the wire and the connector ( so they cannot be confused) I never had any luck with the universal ones, I just get the ones with the right connector.

I dont; kno wabut the limp home...
P1230? is your car a 6 CYL- Injector short cyl #6 ( It hleps to describe your acr a bit to help us out) Miles year engine)

P1105 Rear HO2S Bank 1 Control Module Input Current In Preheating Circuit Too High
oh yeah sorry its 1999 9-5 2.3 with 164K miles

i got the wastegate arm reconected n can totally feel the turbo pullin now n hear the "pssssh!"

n i installed the new o2 sensor n if i unhook the battetry the check engine light doesnt come on till i move but i think this could be cause of LHM, i was thinkin of runnin to autozone n seein if the o2 code's gone now or not (n pick up a serp belt for the 900, it broke after i jump started the 9-5 this morning)
ok so i got the wastegate fixed, the o2 sensor replaced, n i finally got it out of LHM... but the check engine light's still comin on, the idle swoops from about 500 up to 1K... i havent taken it to autozone cause i remembered it isn't legal to drive it yet (oops lol) any1 got any info on the non-front-o2 sensor codes?

oh n i discovered a new problem as well, the turn signals weren't working but there wasnt a fuse in there n when i put it in the right turn signal's always on but the left one works like it should  any help with this would be much appreciated as well thanx
got the codes read at autozone... all its showing now is P1251 .... i tried cleaning out the TB but it didnt help.... i'm gonna get another TB next week i guess n put it on

oh n when i took off the rubber boot that connects the TB to the intake there was some oil pooled up in the end of the intake pipe, does this mean i need the PCV update thing? i've seen it referenced but idk what each version looks like
I do the updated pcv kit on every t7 car that doesn't have it. Try here for info
http://www.genuinesaab.com/catalog/...d=456&osCsid=5fc88a1b17a8cbdfdf70750a6309bda2
I haven't read it, but I'm sure Nick has pics in the install file. Good price on the kit too.
thanx, idt my car has that kit, i'll have to update it :)

i'm still workin on gettin a TB but i got another q... i saw in the manual its supposed to have 90 gas in it, i put 87 in tho cause i thought the computer could handle it(my 900 can) does the T7 require the 90? could that be part of why its running rough, maybe giving the TB code? thanx in advance once again :)
ok i just found another problem n idk if i should've started a new thread for this or not so i'm gonna put it here for now.....

i found some wires that dont look too pleasant :( standing in front of the car if you look to the left n behind the oil cap, thats whee the mayhem is located... can any1 get a pic of what its supposed to look like??? i'm hoping i can just splice them back together n maybe thats why the check engine light's on. i'll get a pic on here asap as well
How about we get a pic of your mess.
heres the pic

*edit... ok that pic is smaller than i expected it to be on here... if i need i can put it on flikr or something where its bigger

I've seen wiring there futz'd with on a few 9-5 nows. I can't figure out what they were trying to diag with that. It looks all put back together now in anycase, just not tidy. I wouldn't be surprised if your car just plain old needs a new/ rebuilt throttle body. It seems like most have been fixed by now, but I've seen a few low mile or neglected cars that never got it the first time around and a few more that got a used one that are now failing.

Were you able to get LHM mode reset? It's really tricky and words can't describe it well. It's really helpful to have the Throttle Body off the intake (30 mins 1st time) to see the black plastic arm that you have to push the spring past to reset. A bad TB would explain both the CEL code and the poor idle.
yeah i got it out of LHM, it was kinda wierd to figure out at 1st but i finally got it n idt its going into LHM anymore but havent checked the last couple times i ran it.

i wanna get a used TB to throw on there n see if it does it just waiting for the money (my 900's battery decided to go bad n almost "strand" me a couple times this week, thank goodness for roll starting lol) n trying to find one cheap cause my usual junkyard doesnt have one... so i'm trying some cheaper options while i wait lol
Since getting it out of LHM has the idle issue subsided, has the CEL reoccured(did you clear it?) Has it gone back into LHM? Also, check for any vac leaks in any of the small rubber hoses running off of the TB. If they appear cracked or worn at all they too cheap to not replace now and eliminate that. They can also trip the LHM.

If its goes back to LHM mode you would know, you would have to basically idle it with your foot.
the idle is better now than at 1st (b4 it was ok at 1st n at full throttle, n jumpy/jerky in the middle... now its smooth) but its idling around 1k without the air on n down to about 500 with it on n it'll drop down all the way n stop if i let off the gas quick n hit the clutch. the CEL comes on once i get to about 10 MPH after i disconnect/reconnect the battery(a side note is i noticed the crazy thing hasn't forgotten the radio stations after eing without a battery for a whole weekend  )
oh n i checked the vac lines n replaced a couple on the TB but with no difference... there is 1 vac line over by the battery tho n i cant find where its supposed to go but idt its effecting it cause theres VERY little suction there, i could totally be wrong tho but my dad didnt think it was the problem either

Some good info^

Get a good throttlebody. Thats where you are at. For 225$ BBA ReManufacturing in Taunton, Mass can rebuild your TB with a lifetime warranty. Maybe you can get a good used for less than that.

GL! Enjoy the 9-5, great DD.

That vac line by the battery is for the battery vent kit. Ignore it, it isn't very functional (plugs into battery)
cool thanx i'll post any updates i have if it fixes this
ok so i fiiiiinally got a TB n put it on n the CEL isn't coming on anymore but its pretty much runnin the same, its ok when i start it up but when i accelerate n then put it in neutral the RPMs just keep goin down to 0 instead of stoppin around 1k :(

Also about the wiring problem, i looked at the wires closer n found out the yellow one burnt up n melted the coating all over the other wires so i fixed that.... but my right turn signal was ALWAYS clicking, i figured it was a short in the trunk wires but i fixed those n no change... i looked behind the steering wheel at the turn signal/cruise control switch n there was another YELLOW wire burnt up! i had to repair 4 wires(2 yellow, 1 white, one green(if i remember right)) n it kinda fixed the turn signal problem, bu ti'm wonderin if i got a big electrical problem with this thing now n its causing the car to run bad??? any1 know whta the yellow wire is for? i couldnt find any wiring diagrams for it
See less See more
also does any1 have any idea why the wire would fry like that?? it doesn't seem like the turn signal circuit would have enough amps to do that much damage to me bu ti could be wrong
