I've checked out a few posts to get some idea's... right now my cover is completely stripped down and ready for polish or powdercoat.

dull gold/black lettering with black DI
white/black or red lettering with flat black DI
polished with black DI

show me some other ideas if you haven't posted them in a thread already

What colour is the car and do you have other coloured accents in the engine bay?

Polished works with anything and would be my choice.

I'd only do gold or white if you have other accents on the car in these colours. If not, things will get busy looking and disjoint.
Polishing a VC is a PITA, i attempted to do it on my old 9k but gave up. There are just too many small nooks that you need to get to in order for it to look good. I know people have spent hours and hours trying to get it perfect and never get there. Its a waste of time imo, get it powder coated and be done.
Well technically you can get a powercoated finish to look almost exactly like a polished aluminum surface. You can also have graphics powercoated such as photos or logos. Some bike frames are done this way vs. decals. More here:

Ahh i thought you were planning on sanding and buffing the bare metal not getting it coated in the polished finish. Well if thats the case the polished look is very nice
Black Forge bov, blue samco hoses, polished delivery pipe

the car is black

I personally think that this will tie in the black parts you have added while connecting to the polished delivery pipe. The brushed look gives the bay some contrast as well.

I had this one for my 900 done in crinkle black with milled lettering:

Make sure that the c900 covers have the double vent tubes. I had one that only had one and it ended up pressurizing the crank case and forcing oil out into the return. So much so that it would spit from the BOV.

This is what I had done with mine...

I went red with contrasting pollished accents on my black Commemorative:

(Kinda blurry, but you get the idea -- same basically as Christian's shot)

I see what you did there with that DI... :)

The biggest problem I had is that my stupid self did not realize that the T5/T7 valve covers have a recessed end on the left side to allow for the DIC to sit properly in the valley but the earlier C900 valve covers (like mine) do not have this feature and therefore the DIC does not fit without shaving a bit off the end.
I feel like valve covers should almost always be a base color and have other parts be accents.

I'm partial to silver vein, but I'm also very biased.

Always liked this one but, it's probably because its my car.

Cool idea, I just don't think it works with the imola red.
