So, I know that with a strut, the camber will not change with raising/lowering the car, but what about toe?

I'm about to change the tie rod ends and control arm bushings, and intend to raise the car for winter, and have it aligned due to new parts, but I'm curious if I'll have to have it re-aligned for toe every time I change the height.

I'm trying to picture where the TRE attaches to the knuckle, and I'm certain it's below the strut, which means it changes geometry when the car is raised/lowered. (not like the ng/9-3)

Anyone deal with this yet?

every single time you adjust the height you change steering angles... TRE is almost lvl with axle. 99-01 9-5s

every time you change height you will change toe and thrust and should be correct with an alignment....then again how much actually changes with height and how that relates to steer ahead on the road idk ive never taken the time to find out

i adjust my alignment every time i adjust height but thats only due to what i want out of it... and its free...

if im dragging frame i want zero toe zero camber just to make it easier to drive, and threw exprience ive found this is what i like.

but if im in a winter height and im worried about having alot of air pass under the car at highspeeds then ill set it up to be more stable at speed, of course i loose turn in and with no p/s can be a bit of a pita in parking lots and slow manuvers.

when you align your car do you have it corner balanced before the alignment?

I do not. It's not a racecar by any means. I good alignment is enough for me. Weight balance isn't critical with the way i drive it. It has been chewing through tires, so I'm replacing bushings and TREs and having it aligned before winter. I just wasn't sure how critical it will be when I lower i it again in the spring.

I do not. It's not a racecar by any means. I good alignment is enough for me. Weight balance isn't critical with the way i drive it. but weight balance does effect alignmnet, just curious what others do with coilovers

if your raising or lower less than an half an inch i dont think its going to make a huge difference unless the tires are already worn a good bit

Yeah, the fronts will probably come up 1.5" for winter. I'll get it dialed in after the new parts and attack it again in the spring.

I appreciate the input, though!

Oh! where do you get your car aligned locally? at stock height, the guys at Mr. Tire seem to be competant, and sears in MA always did a good job on the B&G, but nobody in Annapolis/Kent Island area seem to have any idea.

np, im curious what others run theirteering angles at? it'd be cool to see if anyone else plays around with em'

lucky for me im a linetech here at miller brothers chevy in ellicott city so i have access to a alignment rack and to add to me good fortune the tech a couple bays over is a die-hard spec maita driver with scca so i can brake into his tool box on occason for the car scales :)

as for good place local its really hard to find a good euthist who love's his job, if i had to go some where it would either be Tif's Foreign Car Care in annapolis Sarli Motor sports in Millersville for beyond stock or for good OEM work Bradshaws Rollback & auto service has pulled threw for me and my saab family in the past.
