when i get on my gas the car will shoot up in rpms unless i roll ito throttle. i think its the clutch but previous owner has had clutch replaced less than 30k so he says with a viggen clutch spec clutch from genuine saab. i was wondering if anyones local and could maybe drive car and see what they think. also if it is the clutch what do you guys reccomend? can i adjust it?
Usually a good sign of clutch slippage is when throttle is applied, rpms go up but the cars not moving... A good way to test for slipping is to go on an uphill put it in 1st or 2nd gear and floor it and see if the car moves along with the rpms
I have heard of the Spec disk and viggen pressure plate combo slipping pretty badly after 50k or so with regular driving on a stage 4 9-3, and plenty of that being highway miles. So, anything is possible.
Ive only ever dropped trans in driveways. either get your self an engine beam that sits on the inner fenders or just pull the whole drive train and work on it out of the car.
whats a engine beam? i have a cherry picker. i dont want to pull motor out. the clutch stalls me out in 3rd with parking brake on and holds fine in first and second gear even when i smash the throttle but as soon as i shift into 3rd it slips 4 slips and 5 slips. would i just need to swap the clutch plate? or would i have to pull it out to figure out the problem? and it pulls up hills great in 1st and 2nd but it slips 3rd 4th 5th only if i hit gas hard.
what clutch would you reccomend on a b234r stage 3? i eventually want to drop my hx35 on it but not for awhile. i just want something that will hold power and last the longest. i saw genuinesaab clutch stage 2+ 6 puck for $185 but i was wondering if thats all i would need? and resurface flywheel.
i bought it used and previous owner had clutch done 40k ago. i dont know if its been refinished. i guess i will when i take it apart. but while im build a list of parts should i buy just that plate clutch or get a pressure plate too?
but im wondering if adjusting clutch will solve problem?
did anyone ever have a problem of clutch cable being to tight? i think the 97 900se has a self adjusting clutch. so it could of over tightned itself? hoe do i reset the cable? is there a way to loosen the cable?
usually those cables dont tighten properly though they may feel like they do if you're not 100% on what to look for..... it can wear a clutch out in a matter of a couple of weeks of normal driving
