they will be here in 2007... Malcolm Bricklin is the one bringing them here. Anyone ever hear of Subaru? another bit of Malcolm Bricklin's handywork. http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Features/articleId=104800

I can't wait, though I hate to think what a $3900 NEW car is going to do to the US auto industry... things will change, all cause of those silly looking cars that will cost about 1/2 of what THE cheapest car you can currently buy in the US today costs.

Honestly, I think it will be a change for the better. Any company who wishes to remain competitive in the American auto market will have to actually JUSTIFY the price that they charge for their products. That is, of course, assuming that the Chinese cars are built with the least little inkling of quality. I hope that they are.

well, from the crashtest results of their SUV, they are not built for quality, they are built for low production cost.

The results of the German ADAC test which is comparable to European NCAP safety standards in areas of passanger cabin protection was ZERO out of 5. It was so bad that even airbags were deemed useless. The passenger cabin completely collapsed on collision.
and the video- http://paultan.org/archives/2005/10/07/jiangling-landwind-x6-crash-test-passenger-cabin/

they are clearly not quality or built for crashing, but they are cheap! I agree by and large Asian cars are no good. it was only recently (past 15 years) that any of them could get into a serious crash and not kill both occupants... I think these Chinese cars could potentially be good cars that people who are not poor would want to drive.

30 years from now.

That forum should be called "guess what car this design was ripped from"

Some of them looked more original than others. Also, some looked as though they had some very low fit/finish quaility :-?

I wish Hong Kong would start building cars. I'm sure they could at least rival the Koreans if not the Japanese. I don't know, mainlanders are just weird and love to bootleg everything. (we Hong Kong people bootleg too, but not nearly as much)
