the up side is that they accept paypal
lol not sketchy.
Actually not, we have used Alibaba for getting Chinese stuff for the shop all the time.

I think these were made for a shop in the UK that tries ( unsuccessfully ) to sell them for 1000 lbs.

I think we can get them here for 600-700 each if you include freight.

Usually what we do is buy one ( and pay way too much to ship it) test fit and QC and see if they are willing to work to fix any issues. Have them send one final prototype ( again test fit) if it passes the we will order a larger lot and spread the cost for the first two over how much we sell the lot for...

only problem is that you guys will be pissed about paying more, do a group buy for 10 for 350 and get the benefit of our test fitting and QC and we eat it.

Capitalism is great...

One thing to note this is FOB in China - add in UPS or something similar to get to the US.
I am not saying this would be bad quality but I'd like to see one in person ( any car) before I paid 250-400 plus expensive shipping.

Exasctly my point, I would get them at the shop but know once confirmed that they are OK everyone would just let me eat the investment and buy a set on a group buy

My offer was to get them if everyone shared the cost to bring the first one or two to check out before we buy a bunch...

i would be in for this... if i had a 9-5
i mean you get 20 people to pitch in and thats like $30-$40 a person
for the first test fit hood
and if everything is good and you group buy 20 hoods they're bound to be cheaper, compared to just buying 1 hood

but like i said, if i had a 9-5 i would be in
There is also a big difference between mainland China and Taiwan when it comes to both manufacturing, and sketichiness....

Way to get your rice on.
while it does look absolutely beautiful, do we really want to REDUCE weight over our drive wheels? :p

Yes. You want to reduce weight overall.

Anyway, good luck finding enough people to do something like this. I've seen trouble trying to get 10 people to do a group buy for poly bushings
How much weight do you think it would save?
If I had it I'd paint it OEM white to get the weight savings but avoid ricer like attention from the ticket parade ..
I am more concerned over it getting cloudy and yellowing (like my gorgeous CF roof wing made in taiwan), and even more important, safety.

Does a CF hood become a dangerous projectile in a crash? I know it doesn't crumple like metal!!!

Honestly, I think it would do about what a windshield would do; the resin would crack up and be held together by the fiber fabric underneath. (I don't have any experience with CF, just what I think would happen)

The bad thing about CF hoods is the affects of rock strikes. I walked by an Acura with a CF hood, that had little star cracks all over the front 5 inches of the hood.

It'd probably splinter instead of crumple. There are plenty of cars out there with fiberglass bodies and body panels...Corvette, F-body, etc...
Has there been any decision made about this group buy or test fit sponsorship ?
