Hi guys my issue with the thread of mine where i over revved, turned out to be a bent valve. Now that the head is going to come off, should i flow the head or is there anything else i can do performance wise?

the only bent valves ive seen are if the chains broken or selected the wrong gear like one woman did using second gear at 90mph that was a mess :D
if its a t7 engine then the heads are pretty good to start with just de burr and port match if you want to make the best of what you have.

Couldn't you also put the T5 guides and exhaust valves in there? Migth also want to find out why it is burning up valves so it doesn't happen again..

The valves are Nimonic alloy. Not ti.

Article : Exhaust valve
PartNo : 9179219
Usage : 1999-2002, B205L, B205R, B235R
Order Quantity : 8
MSRP : $109 ea Most dealers will discount 15% at least from there getting all 8.

If you go to t5 valves, guides and grind them. then you need stiffer springs.. Seems like lots of work. You might as well use the base model valves then..

Oh just saw this now, so they are the same valves as the 2 litre Aero, thanks Nick.

$109 for each exhaust valve? I just threw up a little. I'm sure its more at my local Snaab Dealer. Ugh miss my B234. Definetly cheaper to find a whole used head.

That was my first thought, I would buy a complete used head, but then I realized it was a t7 head. Still might be worth calling junk yards and saab used parts places to find a used head and get the valves out of it or just swap over the entire head. There is a guy going out of business in Fort Collins Colorado, says he has 95 stuff and is selling stuff cheap, check it out on craigslist!

good luck,

John

Managed to organise the valves locally for a good deal. All sorted and running strong again. What a waste of cash. Still battling to understand why i bent vaves from over revving in neutral. Anyway, thanks for all the advice guys.

That doesn't sound right, you can't over-rev a modern Saab in neutral. The car automatically cuts off the fuel supply just after 6,000rpm, making it really impossible to do damage by "revving" the car in neutral.
