I just got my hands on a set of BBS Rk511 17x8 rims for the silver beast 2001 9-3 se. I am wondering what tire to use on them. They are wrapped in falken 215/45zr17 right now but look a bit narrow for the rim. Was thinking of going 225 or 235 but dont want roll.

225/45-17 rubbed on my stock suspension 1996 900SE. Viggens used 215/45-17 but their wheels were more narrow. I would still try to run 215s though.

225 is the usual
I have always run 225/45r17 on my cars over the years

You use factory Saab wheels?

I think 225/45 looks too big on a 9-3, 215/45 looks just right. The 225 will generally be about .5" taller tire overall than the 215. If you were to go wider, maybe think about going to a 40 series tire to even things out (but the price goes up with the lower sidewall).

My rk1s have 225/45 on them and the rims are 8" wide with my car lowered on eibach springs and I haven't had any issues with them

The only reason I would go 225 over 215 is because they tend to me a more common size.

I believe gs has a tech article on site about cutting down those tabs when 17's are put on. I agree with the 225 looking a bit big. I had to roll my fenders and cut those tabs down because my shoulder on passenger rear tire was getting eaten up. I love my rk2's

225/45/17 on my 900 w/RK1s. No rubbing. You have to trim the small tab on the rear bumper.
