I have 2009 9-3 but I travel extensively. The car is left in an underground car park with no access to power and on my last trip (6months) I came home to the inevitable flat battery. The space is secure so I could lock with the key blade to disable the alarm but I'd prefer to disconnect the battery altogether.

Will that cause any problems for engine management systems, stored data etc?

Advice on laying the car up
welcome

You could get a battery disconnect switch. I don't foresee any issues except for having to re-learn all the radio codes and ECU adaptation. That's no big deal, just an inconvenience.
