:( Bad night...

Guy tonight (a little after midnight) ran through a red light and slammed into the 9-5. I had 3 other people in the car, and used some very smart driving when i realized that this rather large white work van was not stopping, I swerved and accelerated, and moved the point of impact from the drivers side doors/b-pillar to the rear quarter panel and bumper. The guy was probably going 35mph and I was going through flashing yellow lights at 20-25mph. I honestly feel that I saved myself and the guy that was sitting behind me from some injuries.
The saab held up pretty well for the accident of this nature, and my driving skills saved us from hitting something else after the impact with the van. (I guess its nice to know how to make a car stop oversteering since if the tires had caught while going sideways on Main St, we would have been pointed straight at a brick building).

Really sucks, and I am pretty bummed about the car being all smashed up, but I am honestly most happy that my 3 passengers are Ok. That was my number one concern of the night. Everyone is fine and the 2 guys in the van are ok as well. No injuries makes this horrible night feel much better for me. The car is already at what I consider the best body shop in Bangor, and is awaiting some phone calls tomorrow. Hopefully I can get this all fixed before SIS and the car will be show worthy.

On to the pictures. Be prepared to cry a little bit inside. I know I did....

This is exactly what I am thinking. The three guys in the car with me are clearly the most important that they are ok. Then I come next. The car is just a car. Granted it is a car that has a lot of time and whatnot into it, but at least all the people are safe. That makes me happy.

The taillight is messed up, along with that filler panel, the bumper has 2 large cracks in it on the drivers side. Gotta make some phone calls now.

There probably wouldn't have been an after post....

I currently drive a 1993 Geo Metro to save on Gas to help fund my saab projects.
If I ever get hit int hat thing I am certainly going away in an ambulance..... whereas my 9000 would pretty much be a walk away and cry.

Glad you and all were safe - sorry for the loss

NOOOO

nick, sorry to hear about this. I'm glad you and your friends are ok though!! you definately saved yourself and the car from what could have been a whole lot worse. Your car is just a car (even if it is one of the best looking 9-5's ever), and looks like it could be fixable.
