i'm in the middle of putting a v8 into my a4.
x2, although I always looked at a VW as a real shitty Audi. IceTea, your brother will have a lot of fun with the v6 a4. Stick or auto?Just fancied up VWs with AWD. Yet i like audi and hate vw.
Its an auto, he wanted a stick but he's most likely getting a mk3 jetta 5pd. And he'll have both of them, and the a4 is all wheel drive, and will really do well in the snow. That just reminds me i have to get a snow beater.x2, although I always looked at a VW as a real shitty Audi. IceTea, your brother will have a lot of fun with the v6 a4. Stick or auto?
Yeah i keep telling him to take care of it, and don't beat it and keep up on the oil and he does. He going to school for that stuff anyways he wants to throw a 5spd transmission in to it because the automatic is getting slippy. The ATQ is a great engine, really hardy. They are pretty nice cars, he's gotta keep up on maintenance though otherwise the costs can skyrocket lol. I know, because I write a few monster estimates on B5s every weeklol
And so the fun will really begin now... After all, it is an aging Audi.Yeah i keep telling him to take care of it, and don't beat it and keep up on the oil and he does. He going to school for that stuff anyways he wants to throw a 5spd transmission in to it because the automatic is getting slippy.
The timing belt is fine. Its just the transmission. If hes going for the MT swap, I would just search and get my hands on a 6 instead of a 5, but thats just me. Just wait until his fourlinks start to wear lol. I get paid an hour for one of those guys haha, and there are 8 of those suckers up front. The rear end isnt too bad, but he'll need to watch out for the output shaft seals on the rear differential. Those like to leak. Other leaky spots to watch for; cam adjuster seals, and valve cover gaskets. Make sure he gets the timing belt taken care of as well. 30 valves are pretty damn expensive.
well, of course the saab turbo x i would pick over an AUDI any day.Just sold my wife's 2001 A4 1.8T. Good car; decent power (with chip) nice handling and easy enough to work on, repair cost were less than I expected. I enjoyed driving it around the Rocky Mountains and would recommend them, after a Saab of course. Replaced it with the Turbo X, it's much nicer than the A4.
