asa gets my vote

 

I'm liking the DR's as they remind me more of the RK II.

 

did you see the weight of the DR's? 27lbs!!! no thank you

 

I like the ASA's better.


However keep in mind that the stock viggen wheel is a 17x7.5 - so going with the ASA means you'll actually be installed a narrower-than-stock wheel. But you might not care.

 

Yes I saw the weight but I was just picking on the looks. The ASA just seem flat where as the DR's look as though they have some curvature to them.

i agree... from the front they do look really flat, but they have a really nice side profile

 

Well if weight was your priority then RK II's wouldn't be what you want. You'd want RK I's then.

 

i guess you could say im trying to get form and function... but function comes first.

 

asa in my opinion but i would rather try hunt some rk1's.

now im biting myself for not getting the rk1 18"s last year from ebay.

 

how much do rk's usually run for even if i could find them? they are probably out of my price range.

 

ive seen used ones in good condition for around 350 with tires. 18's however are little more pricy.

Nope. To flat still. The entire lip is flat, the entire center section of the mounting face is flat. It only has some curvature where the spokes split into "Y".

I have some ASA Em-9's I need to unload. They are awesome, as new, truly, but I've got too many projects, too many wheels and I've fallen in love with a 4 lug car. They are no longer available new and better looking then anything I've seen lately... If they interest you shoot me a PM and I'll hook you up with a great deal. They are avail /w tires (2 good, 2 not as good) or no tires.

 

I also prefer the DR19s....they look more like my 18" AT Italias that I chose over the ASA.

 

Anyone has a pic with those 19's on a saab?

 

My .02... ex had the AR1's on her GTI. They look fantastic. Only problem I have, and this is in just about any of the BBS style multifork, is the lip is rather tall and makes the wheel look smaller than it actually is. These are 18's:

good news

i called tire rack and they do have 8" wide 5x110 AR1 17" wheels, they just dont list them as an option for our cars. my only question is will my 215/45-17 tires be able to fit on an 8" wide wheel? they came off my viggen wheels, so im fairly certain they can stretch the extra 1/2 inch. offset is 40 mm so i should be ok as far as rubbing goes, correct?

Yes...my 900 came with 17x8 wearing 215/45/17.
