Aero wheel color opinions please

I acquired a full set of '91-'92 Aero wheels that needed refinishing and I've got them completely stripped at this point. Here's where I could go two different directions. Repaint them as they originally were, which was, strangely enough, all silver (it was original too- paint was all cracked though). Or work my ass off polishing the edge (remember, since they were painted, the edge is not polished) then do the charcoal bit in the center like most of them are. I think they'd look decent all silver- sort of like a large SPG wheel, but they'd probably look better the other way IMHO. I'm probably not going to be keeping them when they're finished, if it makes a difference. Thoughts?

Ray,

Do you have any pics of them? I am looking for a set of Aero wheels. I am confused by reading your post. These dont have the polished lip? I dont know the diffrence between the 2 yet. I want to do a set in White to match my car. I think that would look awsome.

I actually have 3 that I've stripped and one that is the other type (polished edge/charcoal spokes) that has a small fracture on the inner bead. I'm going to have someone look at that. Yes, the three that were originally all silver do not have a polished edge- it was just a painted edge.

How well was it to use, like prep and cleaning, basically the whole process? Would you recommend it?

It wasn't bad. I sprayed it on, waited like 20 minutes or so, then pressure washed it off. Had to do that process about 3 times. There is still a very small amount of the etching primer in a few spots, but not much. The brush on stuff would probably do as well.

Ray...I'd steer clear of polishing the lips, just for the reason that if you do polish them, keeping it clean and nice looking will be a daily chore. I polished the lips on a street bike I used to have, and I had to clean and polish the exposed metal every few days to keep it looking good.
