A/C Keeps Conking Out

My A/C works every day. It blows nice cool air for a while, but stops working after 30-60 min. I always know when it's about to give because suddenly the A/C smells funky and humid. After a while the air is just hot.

Does this sound familiar to anyone? I've searched around and found nobody mentioning such an issue.

I had the same thing happen to my 02 93 se a clouple of months ago, it started doing it every now and then, and then more and more often and then finally it stoped working all together when the the A/C compressor siezed up. Hopefully you have better luck, mine went out on a 7 hour trip where the outside temp was 100+ for about half of it, NOT FUN
haha it started happening to me on a drive from NYC to DC on a 95 degree day. Plus I had to drive back the next day (same weather). So is it a compressor issue? Do I need to replace it, or can I fix it?
Check ur freon level? I know there's a low pressure cutoff switch, it's unlikely but could be it
Do I have to buy the gauge to check the freon? Is there a way to check it for free?

you should be able to rebuild it if you want too, or you can just find another one new or rebuilt
How could I confirm that the problem is the compressor?
