Earlier this year, we had an incident involving the daily commuter White Aero.
The car was parked in front of my parents house, which is on a moderate incline. My father was loading some things into the back to bring over to my house. A series of events occurred which we are not 100% sure on, but the end result was this: After loading things and closing the hatch, he went inside. About 15 min later a neighbor knocked on the door, saying the car had rolled down the hill and crashed into a tree.
The explanation is still unclear - this car is an automatic. My father says he did not set the parking brake... and secondly, the shift lockout is broken. You can start the car in any gear, and remove the key without putting it into Park. (Although he did put it in Park). The theory is, some how slamming the hatch popped the car out of Park into (reverse? neutral?) and the car rolled backward down the hill into a tree. When he found the car it was in Neutral.
Anyway, it has sat for a while. We tore into it a bit but didn't seem worth fixing, so he kept it as a parts car. But now I am in need of a four-door auto winter beater. (Can't buy a car right now, long story). So we're going to fix this one. Besides the damage its a great car with tons of new parts and recent work done. I'm going to take the opportunity to make some changes to it, and have a fun fast daily beater until I can get a newer car that I want.
Here's a list of the work that needs to get done:
-New DS rear quarter panel
-New hatch
-straighten rear bumper area
-New rear bumper internals
-Tail light, decor panel, spoiler
And some changes I plan on making:
-Manual 9000 Aero TD04
-3" exhaust
-Software of some kind
-BOV of some kind
-Intake of some kind
-Tint
-Painted 16" Super Aeros (currently accepting suggestions for absurd colors)
-4ReelMedia corner lights (kidding... the car already has clear corners)
So here are the pics of the damage:
I'll update this thread with pics and stuff as we go along. Interestingly enough, the car's previous-previous owner (kaylan) may have a hand in the rebuild. Watch out.
