6 puck clutch disc dilemma

Hi!
Looking at a 6 puck clutch disc, I see the springs are covered by a plate (curved over the springs, like a hutch-back).
This plate is fixed on the disc with 6 bolts.
My dilemma is: should I cut the bolts and take off the plate, thus freeing the springs, or the disc goes in as it is?
As a side note, no1 ever used such a disc on a Saab around here, so no1 knows :).

Also, due to bad handling, the ferrodos on the disc have been slightly chipped/broken, on the edge, as seen in the attached pics. Would this disc still work on the car, eventually machining/grinding the edges prior to the mount, or the disc is good for garbage?

A good technical answer will be very appreciated!
Thanks for help!

Thanks!

DO not modify the disk but you should rectify the dents in the outside with a file.

Make sure the flywheel is machined.
Many thanks, I really appreciate it!

BTW, got your advise on email a little before :)

P.S. it`s for a Romanian fellow going on the long and hard way of tuning his SAAB, so as you can see, you have a customers`s community all the way to Romania :)
Now I am really curious how his SAAB will work (stock 9-3 AERO => 205 HP).

P.S.2. I think he is way over-clutching, but hey, it`s his decision (that I became aware only a couple of days ago, when the kit way on its way to Ro.)

yeap

true, I could tell him this, but he doesn`t listen!
He is saying: if this application is "performance", I should rather get it instead of a stock part! This way, I will not have to change that part too soon.
For a stock car, this principle sometimes applies...sometimes DOESN`T!
Poly bushings: YES!
Forged pistons: YES!
Shocks & springs: depends...
bigger fuel injectors: NO!
Clutch: definitely NO!
3.5 FPR: NO!
s.o.

We should build a list of DOs and DO NOTs for stock cars :p

done it!

I have just installed the 6-puck clutch disc... a little bit of more work (6 point brace, bigger turbo, s.o.), but it`s on!
The lightened flywheel from Nick T. was perfect (no need to be surfaced), and with some emotion (due to various internet experts opinions) I started a road try...Absolutely stock feeling, no noise/sounds, just hard grip that holds even at peak torque of Stage 5 Viggen (some 480-500 Nm).
Thumbs up Nick for another great product!

Wut?

Why nobody told me this before?
No kidding, I have over-revved it a little (not extensively, thou), but in the 2nd, at low rmps, it acts strange, like that Chewbacca mentioned about.
I am now letting it settle...some 400 kms on it, but still doing the same, hope it`s not glazed already... :(
can someone confirm I still have a chance to save this clutch disc?
Many thanks!
