As many of you know I have made some 3" downpipes for a few people in the last few months. I enjoy making them on a small scale so I will continue to sell them to anyone who would like an

The 9-3 downpipe is made to fit either 5 speed or automatic cars, it is designed to mate up to the factory mid-pipe using the factory style clam-shell style clamp.

affordable way to get their turbo to spool up a bit faster and reduce restriction compared to the stock downpipe.

As of now both 9-3 and 9000 downpipes are made of heavy gauge aluminized steel tubing, and they include a 3" stainless flex section to reduce strain on the exhaust system.

I have made quite a few 9000 downpipes and have updated my design and have finally settled on a good design that is relatively easy to install and will either reduce down and clamp over the OEM exhaust or can be mated to a 3" system, the 9000T includes enough tubing to eliminate the generally weak factory flex section.

Either downpipe can be had without a catalytic converter or with one depending on your needs, the basic cat that I will use is a high flow ceramic core Magnaflow unit, the buyer can choose from any number of higher end cats for the additional cost of the cat they choose.

Either 9000 or 9-3 downpipes can be had with more O2 bungs or any other options for whatever the cost of those options may be (this would be determined on a per-order basis).

Prices:

9000T w/ Magnaflow ceramic cat - $290
9000T without a cat - $230

9-3T w/ Magnaflow ceramic car - $310
9-3T without a cat - $250

Time frame:

I do this aside from my full time job and school, I will generally be able to fabricate on the weekends and will be able to get the downpipes shipped out between 1-2 weeks after the order is placed and paid for (this can depend on if materials are back-ordered). I do occasionally have 1 or 2 downpipes on hand, in which case I can ship them out immediately - but that is not always the case.

Feel free to ask any questions!

The only thing I don't like about the 9000 DP with cat is the location of the CAT - it's not a stock location and could cause an early 9-5 like sludge issue with heat to the oil pan.... My cat is BEHIND the downpipe in the stock location and I feel that's a more ideal spot being it's where it's supposed to sit. Not bashing the work by anymeans - just pointing out an observation and opinion. Easy way around this is the cat-free DP :) Nice work man! I'll work on getting you a ng900 customer.

...and actually on the JT downpipe the cat sits about 10-12" farther back then the stock location. More under the floor of the car, then toward the back of the engine bay like the stock downpipe/cat.

I can arrange the exhaust pretty much any way you want it....I have a 9-3, so making a more complex midpipe setup or whatnot wouldn't be a problem, I would just need some reallys specific info on your needs.

As far as the location of the cat on the 9000 DP I can put it anywhere you want. The on in that photo was made for someone who wanted it in the stock location, and it is in EXACTLY the stock location for a 1993 and newer 9000. I could put them past the subframe if needed as well (ie 1986-1992 stock location).

here is a photo of a stock pipe from a 1995 9000, my first downpipe (still on my car) and the downpipe pictured in the post above...just for comparision

Big props to JK9000s and his 3" downpipes! I have had mine on my 9k for a few months now, it's excellent. I've noticed the engine revs more freely and in conjuction with the decat and a 2.5'' system with a Magnaflow muffler the sound is mean. Lots of nice crackle and rumbles on deceleration.

I bought a 3" downpipe + cat from jk9000 a few months ago. He did a great job, I actually had a huge time constraint because my car failed inspection and the grace period for re-inspection was quickly nearing its end. That said he got the downpipe to me faster then he predicted, and the downpipe fit perfectly. Spent about 5-6 hours getting the old one out, and a fraction of that time rebolting it to the turbo and hooking it upto the exhuast.

The 3 turbo to downpipe bolts are a real pain in the ass to remove. Its definitely a good idea to start spraying the bolts with liquid wrench when you order. An when your removing them dont force them too much further then they want to go, insted back in and out of the turbo. About 100 times in my case. haha

A+ product and service though.

Not trying to sound rude, but how does this compare to the other 3'' downpipes available for an 01 9-3 SE? I don't know much about exhausts, downpipes, etc...

I'm looking to do a 3'' downpipe and the Saab Sport exhaust? Kind of worried about how it may sound though. Any soundclips available / can anyone give me any info. on how loud it is and what not. Just want to make sure my car won't sound like my buddies modded honda accord.

Good question, not rude at all. A mild/aluminized steel 3" downpipe is not going to sound a lot different than the stock one. You will likely get a noticable noise increase from the SAABsport exhaust though.

Saabs and Hondas are like pomegranates and kiwis. Different ballparks completely. ;)
Exactly, the turbo really quiets the exhaust note down a lot. 3" DP to 2.5 inch exhast is exactly the opposite of the "fart car" style exhaust that goes from 1.5" up to 4" at the back. You will not get the annoying frappy noise on a turbo'd SAAB.

Jessop, You able to make a DP for a C900?
Let me know if you want, and I can make and install on for you for a decent price. I think I'll probably do it on Palmer's car, or my '83 (if I put the turbo on soon) just to make sure I can get a good design. I also have some ideas that I have to toss around and experiment with regarding trying to keep the battery in the stock location.

Yes.

We will be trying it on my car soon.

:)
Yes, soon, please :) I need to weld!

Wassobe...I posted a link on here a few weeks back with my sound clips...I have a DP from JK (You rock dude!) and the SAABSport catback....it sounds friggin' awesome....nice deep tone....aggressive acceleration notes with a tiny bit of very harmonious resonance. Smooth and quiet at idle and cruise....lots of cracks and pops on decel.

Just look at my post in the thread I linked.

If ya want a DP, JK is the man!

Thanks much guys...pending me getting out of my current financial nightmare I should have a much better welder sometime. My current one is less than ideal, but I suppose for my "affordable" brand of downpipes it's OK. I'd still like to have something where I could weld stainless.

At least I have a decent chop saw right now.
