I PM'ed JK about his DP's... do you know if he uses Stainless Steel, or Aluminized Steel?

Ideally I want stainless.

Oh, and should I de-cat my exhaust system while I'm at it?

I have generic 15" steelies. (Remember this is my NG900, not my C900 so I can't use the SPG wheels, but the tires *might* fit)

 

Downpipe will be much more fun than snow tires

 

Hmm... I'll see where I'm at after paying bills this next paycheck. I might take you up on those then for the Ides of march rally. Won't be able to get them before this Sat though for Keweenaw, and gas+lodging will still be expensive.

ya.. jessop make a downpipe for my car. IIRC its stainless steel... He did is great job building it. Fit perfectly too.

 

How much does Jk ask for downpipes? I had no idea he does those. 3" and for 9k only or other saabs?

No he is not. It comes down to where his money comes from and who his buddies are which means he pretty much sticks to Saabnet.

 

$75 for 4 snows in good shape seems like a great deal to me. That could possibly save you some $ in the longrun.

 

2 snows - my 2 fronts. The rear tires are nearly bald Michelin all-seasons.

JK made my exhaust too and did a good job and im sure he is better at welding now too.

fuck new snows, you can only use those like 5-6 months out of the year. :lol:

 

looked through my pm's.. The downpipe that i have atleast is alluminized steel.

 

Thanks for that link amish. For the price of some 3 inch downpipes I could nab one for each of my cars lol.

 

JK welded up a DP for me too...Aluminized...he can't do SS until he gets a new welder. Aluminized has held up well...we have a lot of salt on the roads here in NY, it still looks fine. This summer I might take it out and get it coated though to keep it looking new.

He did a fine job and even with shipping he was cheaper than anyone else. I'd highly recommend going with JK if he's not too busy at the mo.

You can get high-temp spray paint at most auto supply stores. I painted mine silver and it held up pretty well...

 

Hmm.... I wonder, I really want stainless. So far, GS is the only one I can find that is full stainless.

But then there is the allure of having a custom DP fabricated for my car, since I could leave my car with JK for a week or so

 

JSP will do stainless you just have to call and talk to him.

 

what temp is high enough? Other than buying the highest temp i can find.

 

I would use 500+ degree paint.

Well, i just PM'ed Jessop telling him I want a 3" DP with the Stainles flex tubing, without a Cat.

I won't have any problems running a Nordic Tune without a Cat will I?

Also I'm hoping I can get this done/installed before the Neuwerks Winter Escape on March 10th. If not, oh well. In any case, the DP is ordered!

 

I just put my catless GS down pipe on and everything is great. Sure does growl with no cat and saab sport exhaust
