Does anyone know if a SAAB 5042585 (I suspect it's a Pioneer) CD changer is repairable? It skips tracks badly whenever the car has been out in the hot sun for an extended period of time.
When I pulled player apart I noticed the four rubber dampers holding the metal casing (for the cassette into which the CDs are loaded) had degraded and cracked, causing leakage of a white grease.
I would like to keep the car's original stereo and fascia, but I wouldn't mind changing the CD changer, however, I've been advised that I can't retrofit another CD changer as it won't be recognized by the stereo.
I would appreciate any advice you may have.
Thanks!
