If you are missing low end torque it will help. Both of the turbos you mention normally provide enough low end grunt.

As for the 5cm vs. 6cm turbos, there isn't much difference between the two unless the internals are upgraded. Of course 6cm units allow for larger interanals with addtional machining too.

I don't know if it was Erin Hacket, but whoever owned or owns the Yeaaahaa ng900 has a 2.3 turbo with the na manifold, or slapped a turbo on a non turbo, or has a 2.0 with a 2.3 valve cover. The point being it has a turbo and a non turbo mani.

I think Nick T discovered 20 ft lbs down low, but lost the thread he talked about it in.
