Hi guys. I am wanting to join the Saab owners ranks. I can choose to buy one of two Saabs. Both Saabs have about 240 000km, Full service history with Saab or Saab specialists. Both are about the same price.

The first one is a 1996 Saab 9000cse 2.3l turbo (http://johannesburg.gumtree.co.za/c-Cars-Vehicles-Motorbikes-Parts-cars-R35K-SAAB-9000-CSE-2-3L-TURBO-W0QQAdIdZ192115889#). The second choice is a 1996 Saab 900se turbo 3 door. Both are high pressure turbo's

I spoke to one of the Abbots from Abbot racing and he was emphatic about the Saab 9000 being the better buy. However the Saab specialist here in Cape Town, South Africa said i should go for the 900 as there was MUCH better parts availability and less went wrong with the 900's.

Also i would like to know about fuel consumption. It seems the 2.3l turbo gets better fuel consumption than the 2l turbo. Is this true?

So i wanted to know what your guys opinion is...perhaps a poll?

Thanks so much
Simon

I had this same choice to make when I was in the market for a car, ended up with a 9000. Right afterward, my brother bought the 900, and we both absolutely hated it. When my 9000 crapped out I bought another 9000 because I loved the first one so much. Definitely get the 9000, you will be very pleased with the decision.

Definatley go for the 9000. I have owned a total of 4 of them. Two have died and gone to SaabHalla, one is refurbished and is a daily driver. Wife just loves the car, gave it to her and I don't get many opportunities to drive it. The other 9000 is currently undergoing its' extensive refurbishing.

These cars are very comfortable to ride in, the cabin is spaceous, parts are still easy to obtain and most of all, it is one of the safest cars to be in. I don't think you can go wrong . . .

Like I said, I haven't really spent enough time in a CS/CSE or a stock 5spd 900SE to draw any real conclusions, but the 9k does feel better... as much as I love the NGs.
