Check your radiator, might be faulty fan/coolant leak. Or your radiator pump might be the issue
Check your radiator, might be faulty fan/coolant leak. Or your radiator pump might be the issueI have a vehicle that does well in town, 25 minutes into hwy driving and the temp needle starts to climb...to the point of a warning lite coming on telling me to pull over and let it idle. Then, the needle comes down to middle range, back on hwy and 10 minutes later...starts to climb again. Put in a new thermostat a year ago and had the system flushed, new hoses and new coolant...same stuff is happening again. Please help.
Matt
The mechanic mentioned one cylinder was low in compression and that the sparkplug wells had oil in them. My AC does not work, hasn't worked since I bought it. I'd love it if it wasn't a gasket fix. Cyl 1 as 157 and the other 3 on or around 180. Not sure what that means. Has always leaked a bit of oil...never coolant. What you have described doesn’t match up with needing a head gasket.
You haven’t mentioned losing any coolant or coolant mixed in the oil due to the leaking gasket. This sounds more like a bad radiator fan/fan not starting up. How is your A/C as there is some logic on fan control.
Did your mechanic confirm low compression on a cylinder and then confirm coolant was getting into the cylinder with a bore scope?
