i know some of you don't like BMW's but she has a 96 accord now, so anything is better then honda

 

i think the x means it has all wheel drive. but i dont know much about bmws..

 

yes it does stand for all wheel drive i believe it is that one but i haven't seen the car

 

High mileage BM's can be scary. I would only buy this car with an extended warranty.

ya they changed the engine, but i guess it is supposed to be better then the E36 2.5

 

thoes 3 series are pretty solid. my cousin bought a 328i with about a 100k on it for about 9k and it runs great. i dont think there were any issues with them...the e39 5 series is what you have to look out for...they have sludging issues.

 

I would really say you might get better info at bimmerforums. Just search around for some posts on mechanical issues and I am sure you will find something (after all it is a B'mer j/k kinda)

I think that the miles are high for the price. I wouldnt do it imo.

 

Around here that car with 40k miles is still about $19-22k at a dealer. So I think its reasonable for the price and mileage.

 

Ya i thought that the price didn't seem to bad, i also went to bimmerworld.com did really seem to have any problems with the 325 mostely the 330. so it sounds like a realiable car.

 

Still its a BMW nearing 100k, wouldnt want to buy it, especially an AWD one without a warranty. The parts and maintenance compared to your girls Honda could be a nightmare.

My mother has an '02 325ci convertible - it is a very reliable car, the only unexpected problem she's had was something with the power steering pump or some such thing.

Good car, fun and all, but expensive to maintain. She got the steering thing fixed at the dealer and along with the 60k service I believe the bill was like 1200 dollars. Ouch.

There is also a lot of computerized stuff on there that will undoubtedly start to fail at that age, which is a problem with modern cars in general.

You also might want to consider that everyone else on the road will see your girl as another beemer driver. That is the main reason why I would never buy a non-vintage bmw.

No, but people will be more likely to cut her off, try and gun it by her, get impatient, etc. Probably not a big safety deal, but for me I don't like that image.
