Monday at the 270 spur one of those with diplomatic plates closely followed by a Porsche Cayenne roasted by me at around 90ish.

They are pretty thin. Make them any thicker and you will have a much longer motor, or a much weaker crankshaft.

The bonus to having some many cylinders is each one carries less load so things don't have to be as beefy.
Also like JK said, if you added 2mm to each one, the engine would be almost an inch longer.
Do you have any idea the ridiculous amount of work it takes just to get that lower assembly seperated from the block, and Im talking about leaving the rotating assembly in the block. Its not fun! Awesome engine, pain in the balls to work on, and good luck getting any part other than a new head or shortblock. Nothing else is available seperately.

That is correct, each cylinder is at a 15 degree cant to the block deck.

But for all the amazing technology it really doesn't make that much more power than say an LS3. But LS3's are wicked cheap and W12's are not.
The factory tuning on those engines is rather conservative 
I know its a different engine, but Ill try to find the video of the diesel v10 touareg that some guy tuned to bring out the real potential of that engine and his transmission case pretty much got dynamited out of the truck. I would love to see what a tuned W12 could do.
